Hi, just wondering, I have been giving my 10+ yr. old collie/sheltie mix med. from Pet med online for joint pain relief.
I ran into someone one day who told me she gives her dog the same joint med. that she takes. I see it for sale at the drug stores a lot and its the same ingredients (clucosomine, etc.) thats in the dogs med. but a lot more pills for less money. A lot of the time its buy one get one too.
Has anyone heard of this? :howdy:

Do you mean Glucomsomine? I take Glucosomine/Chondroitin pills daily for my joints. Don't know what you pay but I don't consider them cheap. For me I can't honestly say they work well but at the same time, mentally, they do.

You are talking about Glucosomine and chondroiten (spelling?). It's sold in the vitamin/suppliment sections and you can get the store brand and it's cheaper. But I'd make sure your dog isn't suffering from something else like Lyme's disease which presents as joint pain in dogs. My dog had it and after a couple of days and her switching which front leg she was favoring, I figured it was systemic and took her to have her tested for lymes. She had it and needed antibiotics for a month! She was walking better the next day with the anitbiotics and Rimadyl for pain. so unless your dog has been diagnosed first, I would seriously consider getting her blood checked first. just my humble opinion.

She has been checked and has been on the med. for over a year. It does help and with diet we have gotten her weight down. Hard to exercise her when her joints hurt but with med. we have been able to.
My friend gets the joint med. at BJ's and it is much cheaper than ordering and more convenient. Just wondered if anyone else had done this or knew of someone who did.

Just found some online at Walmart.com that is half of what I usually pay and has the same amount of meds. as what I order. You have to order online only but its a big savings.

It's a common practice. I know several retired (and one or two active) police patrol dogs that are given glucosamine.

Cheapest source of Glucosamine I've found has been BJ's.

I stopped taking them for awhile and I noticed the difference. Started taking them again. :yay:
