Ah, so nice. Stockers supposedly "lubed for life", that just means when you do replace it, usually sooner than you would a non sealed one, you have to replace the whole piece its attached to, at a sustantial price increase. Upper control arms, ball joints shot. Replaced with ones that have grease fittings. Lower tie rods, already replaced once, finally found greaseables one from Moog.

I am a happy man:buddies:

What type of vehicle? I have a Pontiac Grand Am and I'm seriously ticked at it. None of the tie rods, steering arms, etc have grease fittings. Just GM's way of ripping us off more.

Another thing that :burning: is that they have disc brakes on the front and drum on the back! Morons!!

And my final :burning: is that the 2 back windows only go down half way :burning: :burning: Why must we pay for bad parents?? Between that and "childproof" caps on everything I buy, I'm going :cds:

A 2006 Charger, most of the suspension design was a direct lift from the W210 E-class. The tie rod end was a Moog "Problem Solver" brand. The upper control ares came from a company called Rock Auto, online.

About the rear windows, I used to think it was a child proof thing too. But, look closer, what model year is it? A lot of times, the rear windows only go down so far because the wheel arch interferes.

In some cases yes, but mine has room to go down farther in the door. The rear doors also have "child safety switches" (so the door release handles can't be opened) so I'm thinking it's just more child safety crap I have to deal with.

Every darn bottle of mouthwash and MOST ALL other household products with child proof caps makes me want to go :cds: but this thread is about those un-greasable tie rods...

I like the child proof caps on the bottles of Arthritis medications. Something about that just seems wrong.

:yay: They didn't have child proof caps when I was a kid but, if I ever touched my parents meds, I would need my own set of meds for pain...

You do know that when you go to and get your drugs, you can request a non child proof cap?

Yeah, but getting a VW bug to do 0-60 in about 5 seconds takes some doing. And of course the comfort level is lacking a bit. I do like my comfort and of course the extra safety inherent in 4200lbs of modern machine with full safety systems are worth the extra time and effort to upkeep. I cant even blame this on its Mercedes heritage. I blame it on Dodges implementation of Mercedes designs on a Dodge budget.

you drive it until something breaks and have it town in to the stealership

who has time to get their hands dirty anymore

Not much, but I make time. I have found nobody cares about my stuff like I do. Its rare I turn stuff over to paid folks, but I do on occasion. I can handle the computers, because really, its rare the solid state stuff goes bad, its usually sensors or other moving parts.

The makers, and of course the dealerships would like you to think they are no maint, but its an drivetrain, and brakes, and suspension, just like always. Spark plugs last 100K, but are still plugs. My steering system has a an angle sensor, but a tie rod is still a tie rod. My transmission is an electronically controlled semi-auto five speed, but changing its fluid is the same as a Ford C6. Easier even, since its only six bolts and a reusable rubber gasket.

I have a Bluetooth adapter that lets my phone see all the OBDII data real time, and it makes it easy to see whats up. The electronics, they help you pin stuff down.

Oh, and my brakes? Easiest ever. Dont need to unbolt the calipers to change pads. Two pins pushed out, pads slip out, new ones in, five minutes tops.

I don't take any meds but yes I know that. I'm talking mainly about the bathroom stuff I use every day. Mouthwash, pre brush rinse & flouride. I have to disable a safety cap feature every week just so I don't have to "squeeze" every cap in just the right spot every time I want to open them. My One a Day vitamins, my Clorox bottle, etc., all have safety caps :burning: :jameo:
