With so much junk cluttering the internet these days, it is often difficult to find fun sites that are kid-friendly…kid-friendly and educational sites are even harder to track down! JPPM however just released a new BETA (testing) page the Virtual Fieldtrip, in addition to their existing web page that is designed just for children. This great new site was just created, so JPPM is asking for input to work out all the kinks. A survey is being offered to the site’s visitors to gain feedback; participants in August will have the chance to win a $100 gift card to Amazon.com upon completion!
Launched on August 2, 2011, JPPM’S newest page is interactive and features two different sections for children to enjoy. One is an Archaeology FAQ page; here kids can play games, while learning about the basics of archaeology and what an archaeologist really does. The second portion is focused on underwater archaeology and allows children to click on ships from the War of 1812 as well as other eras to discover what archaeologists have found beneath the sea! A glossary allows children to learn new terms and phrases associated with archaeology and help to navigate the site.
