I just wanted to put this out at this is the first that i heard of it. I also think that the actual cost of the Air Show is way off by probably $15 Million or so, compared to what is cited in the story.

They were citing appropriated funds, not the cost of the airshow. I'm guessing they are mainly referring the O&M funds from the various units to fly to/from AAFB.

I was looking at overall costs of the Show itself, being a maintainer of USAF acft I am aware of certain costs (O&M, base level support, security, lodging) and having worked the JSOH in a few different ways over the years, I willing to bet that they are looking at more the just the Appropriated Funds as a reason to stop Air Shows. Has anything been announced yet about Pax's Show yet?
