Judge Asks Doctor if Fetus Can Feel Pain

What a great question? Maybe the doctor will think about it the next time he goes in to suck the brains out of a baby that is getting ready to be delivered. I saw the numbers the other day that said we (as a country) kill 1.3 million babies a year. And we thought 9/11 was bad!

NEW YORK (AP) - A doctor who performs abortions found himself quizzed by a federal judge about whether a fetus feels pain during a controversial abortion procedure and if the physician worries about that possibility.

The inquiry, at times graphic, came in U.S. District Court on Wednesday after lawyers on both sides had finished questioning Dr. Timothy Johnson, a plaintiff in one of three lawsuits brought to try to stop enforcement of the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act.

"Does the fetus feel pain?" Judge Richard C. Casey asked Johnson, saying he had been told that studies of a type of abortion usually performed in the second trimester had concluded they do.

Johnson said he did not know, adding he knew of no scientific research on the subject.

The judge then pressed Johnson on whether he ever thought about fetal pain while he performs the abortion procedure that involves dismemberment. Another doctor a day earlier had testified that a fetus sometimes does not immediately die after limbs are pulled off.

"I guess whenever I..." Johnson began before the judge interrupted.

"Simple question, doctor. Does it cross your mind?" Casey pressed.

Johnson said it did not.

"Never crossed your mind?" the judge asked again.

"No," Johnson answered.

Super Genius
I guess the doctor forgot about this part of the oath he took:

Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.

It's obvious that in partial birth the baby feels the pain. This is so sicks and so sad.

I don't think I would be able to sleep if I were to perform one of these. I would be vomitting all night... :barf: :barf:

You sound just like those PETA freaks, using the same excuses as this as to why animals shouldn't be harmed in any way. Guess the world needs all kinds of freaks from all sides to create harmony in the universe :ohwell:

Well I prefer to be on the side that doesn't believe in killing babies.

Good for you. Go have a cookie.

So. How do you feel about genocide? Any group of people that has no say in how the laws are made can be easily destroyed at the whim of society. Does that make it right?
