juicing

Has anyone tried juicing? Is is really worth the expense?

I love it! It's really good for you and super tasty/healthy ESPECIALLY when you get local fresh fruit & veg. I have a really good & expensive juicer & book, pm me if you want tried & true recipes.

Unless you're talking about steroids :eyebrow: Probably not worth it.

Thats what I thought the thread was about until I read your reply. I heard it makes you penis shrink so I never wanted to take any chances with that. :killingme

No, it just lowers your production of natural testosterone so your balls don't fill up as much.. once you're off and do your PCT they'll come back around

Target has a good one, Jack Lalaine (sp) for $100 or under.... it works really well. I used to have that one. It's best for the price.

:cds: NOOOOOOOOOO! :cds:
That one isn't bad for 100

buy it from BB&B with one of those 20pct off coupons and get it for 80

I love my Breville that I got from BB&B, it's 150 I believe.. much more powerful than the jack

I see the Breville works similar to the Jack.
I gave up my Jack when I purchased a Tribest Twingear, it's great, less fun than the breville & jack though.

I've got one that was purchased from Sears. I did a quick online search, but couldn't find the brand/style I have. It's one of the nicer ones and I like it, but it's a PIA to take apart and clean. I reserve it for weekends when I have more time to prance around.

I get perfect orange juice with it without any pulp and it tastes great! I haven't tried any other mixes, but it came with a recipe book with tons of options.

Is it true that you don't have to cut everything up before juicing?

if it fits then no, strawberries leave the stems, same with carrots, just make sure grapes, apples, berries and any root veg are organic, anything else you can wash really good in a solution of grapeseed extract, salt & water or lemon juice, salt & water.

Why not water?

I edited it. You should try to buy organic when you're juicing for optimal health. Some conventional produce is sprayed so heavily such as apples, grapes & berries, the root veg might be grown in soil that has been treated as well.

Got it. I try to buy everything organic. It is so hard to find it around here. I wish we had a Whole Foods! Our grocery stores suck if you want healthy food.

Chasey is right; juicing is great except for the cleanup. The entire unit is easily cleaned but the blade itself has such small holes in it that the food particles have to be scrubbed with a small brush to get them all out and it takes time. That line about just throwing it in the dishwasher is bunk! Mine was made by Oster, btw.

The other reason that I stopped juicing was because most of the fruits ended up with a chalky flavor but the veges were really good (like V8 juice). The PB, bananas, cherries, blueberries, strawberries, yougurt, etc., always tasted the same: bland and chalky. The worst things I ever juiced were raspberries. OMG, they ruined the flavor and I never knew why until recently. The small seeds inside the berries were extremely tart when they were broken. They were fine when you ate them regularly because the seeds were left intact inside. I just buy the V8 low sodium now and eat the veges for dinner every night...

I was thinking of buying the GE juicer from walmart. It seems to have good reviews. I am going tomorrow and getting a juicer.

I went to Walmart and bought the GE brand juicer. Haven't had a chance to play with it yet. Walmart's produce section really s*cked so I haven't been able to get any good fruits/vegs to try yet. Will let everyone know how I make out.
