Hogan's Highlights

Dear Friend,

Throughout June, we have been working hard to serve the people of Maryland. We announced the launch of a new student debt repayment plan, fought for a traffic relief initiative to address our state’s congestion problems, and marked a milestone in Project C.O.R.E. We also announced the expansion of Handle with Care, helping law enforcement and schools work together to prevent and mitigate the effects of childhood trauma.

I proclaimed June 28 “Freedom of the Press Day” in honor of Capital Gazette journalists Gerald Fischman, Rob Hiaasen, John McNamara, Rebecca Smith, and Wendi Winters, who lost their lives on that day last year. As we honor those we lost and all who have lost their lives in the pursuit of informing our citizens, we recognize the vital role that the freedom of the press has in our democracy and our duty to honor and protect this constitutional right.

Be sure to stay up to date on what’s going on by following my Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram account, and Snapchat (username: GovLarryHogan).

Enjoy your July Fourth weekend, and I will see you next month!

WBAL Editorial: “We applaud the governor for leading by example, taking a bold step that doesn’t require him to hold the highest office in the land- something we can all do regardless of our politics.”
