Jumping Jacks

Anyone know what happened to Jumping Jacks in Oakville? One day it was open, and the next time I went past, there was no sign of a restaurant ever being there. The inside is bare.:pete:

Would anyone mind responding to the original question? Thanks. I would really like to know what happened. I hope Happy Happy himself is O.K.

Little pricey. Not great. Never a crowd = go out of business.

people don't seem to realize that the life span of most independently owned and operated restuarants is short. There are lots of things that effect them harder then the mega chain outlets, from suppliers, the economy to family.

Let me add. Horrible location.

That's part of it too. There is a cost to everything - that location might have been what he could afford. Hours of operation, raw ingedients, you name it. Throw in personal issues, stir, shake and flush.

What was that pizza place that was where Thia Inter is now? I thought their food was great, prices etc. One problem was that in the summer the a/c failed and in the winter the heat failed. They didn't own and apparently the landlord was sticking it to them for the "prime location".

Since I am a professional critic let me say you are right on much of what you said. The retail food business has a VERY high failure rate. I think that usually if you are clean, reasonable $ with quality product you have your best chance. If you don't have those three you will go no where fast.

From what I heard, the Jumping Jack's business was not doing as good as Happy Happy wanted, and when the landlord raised the rent to something like $2800 a month, Happy Happy knew he couldn't afford it. So the tradition in his country is that if a man is not successful in his business, it is considered a disgrace, and he must commit suicide. So he closed up shop, and moved back to his country to kill himself. I've heard it from 3 different people. I've been told what country, but I can't remember.

Saw him at an auction stuffing a hot dog into his face recently. I think he's just fine. :yay:
