Just a bit biased? Maybe more than a bit.

As is typical of most reporters, this story is full of half-truths and slant. http://somd.com/news/headlines/2007/5480.shtml

The bill affects ALL semi-automatic weapons, not just a few as the story claims. None, zero, not one, is a military weapon. There were over 200 opponents that signed up to testify against the bill and not all the opponents signed up to testify. The story says more than 100 opponents, but hey, I guess that is true if not just a little misleading.

The statistics given by the Brady bunch and Handgun Control were proven wrong using the numbers from their own statistical sources. It should be against the law to lie before an assembly committee. Of course the "reporters" (I use the term loosely.) would not know; they were not there.

The "reporters" missed that the Maryland Association of Police Officers is against the bill and says the bill will do nothing to prevent crime and only violate the rights of law-abiding citizens and testified to that effect. The "reporters" missed that less than one percent of all violent crime involves rifles. They missed that the Md State Police don't even bother to differentiate the kind of weapons commonly called assault weapons used in crimes, because the number is so insignificant. They missed that criminals and gangs almost never get their weapons through legal means. They missed that the AR-15 was created first as a rifle for private citizens and was then adopted by the military and turned into the M-16, not the other way around as testified by the Brady bunch. They missed that the young woman who's father was killed, tragic as it was, was not killed by any weapon in the bill SB43. And that is only a sample of what the "reporters" missed.

Most of the "reporters", they are anything but, left before the first opponent even testified. Some did stay for the first two of three, but that is hardly a fair sample. That's fair, right? Heck. It should be against the law to report something as news when it is nothing more than a op ed piece.

Most "reporters" are as bad, no, they are worse than politicians. People expect politicians to lie. You can vote a politician out of office. Wish we could do the same for reporters.

To be fair, Betsy Farmer, was more fair in this piece than WJZ or the Sun. Not fair, but more fair. It is a relative thing. Their stories were total :bs:. This one is half ... 2/3's :bs:.
