Buying new xD memory is a LOT more expensive than using one of SD cards I currently own

Max size available (after a quick search) is only 2Gb, and the price per Gb is more than an SD card. I have a stock of SD cards, and i think I'd be a bit tweaked if I had to buy a separate, different card just for one camera. Many laptops/PCs have SD slots built in, xD not so common.

Like GW said, Max xD is 2G for about $20, you can get a 2G SD for about $5

The other option at that price was pink, so yes, I noticed

Evidently one of the camera features is the ability to format all objects in the picture into outlines, creating coloring book pictures that my 10 year old might enjoy

Got the camera, no view finder sucks but it should work OK in a water park.
Radio Shack has a 4G micro SD cards for $15 (camera comes with an xD to Micro SD adapter) so I'm good to go as soon as the water proof case arrives (allegedly next Wednesday)

Yeah, given where you're going, I doubt composition is going to be a high priority while you're using it. Snap often and don't worry about it.

Reconsidering the color, pink might have been a better choice... at least if you find yourself trying to locate it at the bottom of a pool.
