 Children should eat for meals what their parents eat. I ate what was served and my kids ate what was served (except for the pea slinging incident). Why should a parent cook 3 different meals? Stop coddling children and serve them healthy meals consisting of a meat, 2 veggies and a starch. :jameo: What is stated above is not healthy eating.

Tig, it's not how much they eat, it's what they eat. Don't force them to eat more. They are so much more smarter than we are. They actually stop eating when they are full and they don't start eating when they are bored.

Make sure that the kids are eating healthy foods, that they are growing well and the doctor is happy with their progress.

My kids love anything on a kabob (chicken, steak shrimp), hot dogs/bugers, my pasta salad, corn on the cob, fried chicken, hot ham&cheese subs, my husbands chili, pork chops w/ applesauce, chicken nugges (of course!), waffle fries w/ cheese & bacon on top, tacos. That should be enough to get the kids fed tonight. Let me know if you need more ideas. What ages are the kids also? Maybe they could help you and then they would be more inclined to eat their creations!

p.s. love your formerly known name ... I just love tiggers! Good luck feeding the kids.

My kids are 32 months boy & 15 month girl. But a feed them what I eat, but they don't want to eat. I'm trying to come up with healthy ways for my 15 month girl to gain weight. :huggy:

When my kids went through the "no eating" stage, I got creative with snacks and lunches. Dinner always consisted of meat, veggies and a starch and they had to eat or at least try everything.

I went through a lot of peanut butter. Made sandwiches and then cut shapes which the kids thought were pretty cool to eat. Used lots of fruit/veggies with dips...kids love dunking their food in something. Used peanut butter as a dip for apples. Cheese chunks are a great snack.

Make mealtime fun and they will want to eat. Don't get frustrated and make it a chore or you will set a pattern for bad heating habits for the rest of their lives.

We had spaghetti night but that was served with a meat, salad and bread. We had hot dog night but we beans and brown bread. Every Sunday we had a roast, 2 veggies and bread...Either they eat or go hungry. Kids learn what they are taught.

My kids loved just eating lots of fresh fruits and veggies at that age. Just give them something to dip it in and they'll eat every last bite. Great dips are applesauce, peanut butter, ranch dressing, caramel, nutella. My kids ate lots of brocolli, carrots, cucumbers, apples, pears, oranges, peaches, tomatoes, grapes, etc at that age.

They also seemed to like bologna, ham or turkey cut up into little tiny bite sized pieces. I would just take lunch meat and chop it up and they would eat piece after piece. Same thing with slices of cheese as long as it was in strips.

That is such a fun age you have to play with. Enjoy them no matter how challenging they can be at times! My baby will be 6 soon and time has just flown by so fast!

Usually my kids eat whatever we eat for dinner. Of course there are fun nights too. Sometimes we just don't feel like cooking, and we might make everyone their favorite easy to make dinner, like easy mac or sandwich...

So far only soft stuff. I'm having a hard time getting her into trying new things.

Maybe you could try breakfast drinks. You add milk, even a little ice cream and it has lots of vitamins. Like Carnation.

I'm one of those mean moms who makes 'em eat what I cook. And have since they had teeth. And they have to have at least a little bit of everything on the table. It may not be a 4 course meal, but a meat, veggie and starch, usually a fruit too is the norm on our dinner table. They eat it or no dessert.

Mac & cheese and sloppy joe are ok for a quick, every now and then weekend meal, but teaching your kids to eat better now will only benefit them in the long run.

I caught myself last week telling my daughter she couldn't have any more veggies until she tried her steak! :killingme

I agree though. They should try everything. Then she can have more veggies!

You might want to try pediasure. It's made for children and might help to spawn an appetite.

Unless you mean that it tastes so awful they'll eat ANYthing else you give them. :barf:

I've never had children, but it seems to me that it might be a bit early to throw a pepperoni pie or a Manwich in front of a 15 month old baby. Just me.
