Why is it Pete Rose is banned from baseball all together for gambling and all these atheles can stay in thier league after they rape, murder,or have some drug related charges against them? It just doesn't make sence at all. Pete Rose did not hurt anyone and he is not allowed to have anything to do with baseball. Maybe he should of gotten a DUI and kill someone, smoked some crack and beat his wife or started a dog fighting ring and he would be allowed to have some affiliation with baseball. Personally i think if you commit crime you should be kicked out.

Pete Rose committed the original sin to the game; betting ON BASEBALL. Then he lied about it. It either matters or it does not.

If he killed someone, say a DUI as you suggest, that is not a blight on the integrity of the game, only him. When he bet on baseball, including his own team while he was managing the team, he brings the game directly into question.

Had he been a notorious drug addict or wife beater he probably would have been kicked out of the game but he may well still have qualified for the Hall of Fame had his performance over time not brought his play into question.
