White House Rounds Up Fact-Checkers to Defend Kamala on Hurricane Relief 'Equity'
On Sunday, our Kevin Tober noticed Sen. Rick Scott faced pushback from CBS Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan when he said Vice President Kamala Harris was arguing that racial "equity" should be applied in disaster relief. It was only a matter of time before the "independent fact checkers" lined up to defend Harris.
Here in our NewsBusters Twitter notifications came a tweet from deputy White House Twitter troll Andrew Bates, lining up his helpful Democrat-enabling fact-checkers. (We're not adults? Fact check?)
Every time the top 2 executives in this country speak, someone on the staff has to come out and tell us what they meant to say. Why not cut out the middle man and have the person that has to correct the blunders just give the initial speech? How many times can they come out and say that what we heard the prez or VP say is not what they meant?
Kamala Harris Claims Religion Has Nothing To Do With Abortion
While claiming to be a devout Catholic, Harris declared that getting an abortion, i.e. killing an innocent life, has nothing to do with God or religious beliefs.
When asked what Harris would say “to someone who understands why abortion should be a personal decision between a pregnant person and whomever else they decide to include in the conversation but believes they can't reconcile it with their faith?” Harris responded that the decision should only involve the pregnant woman’s decision.
“That's such an important point to raise," Harris said, adding “it is her choice and it should be her choice to make, if she chooses a consultation with a loved one, with a healthcare provider, with her faith leader.”
Harris then said a woman should not have to decide between religion and abortion.

Kamala Harris hires third chief VP speechwriter since taking office: Report
Vice President Kamala Harris has reportedly hired her third chief speechwriter since she entered office last year.
Dave Cavell, who has previously served as speechwriter for White House climate envoy John Kerry and in the Obama White House, has been hired in the role, per Politico.
Harris's office has seen multiple shake-ups in the past year, with two head speechwriters leaving and several other aides departing.
Kamala Harris's marijuana prosecution record scrutinized after recent pardons
The Biden administration’s mass pardon for cannabis offenders has renewed attention on Harris’s record as a top California prosecutor before her election to the Senate in 2018.
Support for legalization has grown over the years and is especially popular among younger adults. Critics say Harris was slow to adopt the position. During the 2020 presidential campaign, Democrats hammered California’s former top cop for her record of cannabis prosecutions.
On a debate stage in Detroit, Tulsi Gabbard, then a Hawaii representative and rival for the Democratic nomination, said Harris had the power to enact change but didn’t.
“She put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and then laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana,” Gabbard said, telling Harris that those who “suffered under [her] reign” deserved an apology. “The bottom line is when you were in a position to make a difference and an impact in these people’s lives, you did not.”
Gabbard recently accused Harris of “hypocrisy” amid efforts to bring WNBA player Brittney Griner back to the United States from Russia.
During her tenure as California attorney general, some 1,560 people were sent to state prisons for cannabis-related offenses between 2011 and 2016, according to state corrections data analyzed by the Washington Free Beacon.
After Harris became the vice presidential nominee, some defended her as a leading progressive during her time as San Francisco district attorney. Others credited her predecessor with the reforms.

We’ll start with an outright lie, committed during an interview with Esme Murphy of WCCO-TV in Minneapolis. (Powerline readers are familiar with Ms. Murphy’s awkward relationship with the truth.)
The Vice President of the United States called claims that she supported the Minnesota Freedom Fund, established to bail out rioters arrested during the first round of arson and looting following the death in police custody of career criminal George Floyd, "misinformation":

“I think that unfortunately, what we’re seeing are people are playing political games right now,” Kamala said. “We’re 18 days away from midterms, and we have sadly not seen a lack of misinformation and disinformation. And I think this is another one of those examples.”
