You and I know what she means by meaningful reform. She and other Democrats insist that meaningful reform cannot happen without a legal pathway to citizenship, with a preference for blanket amnesty for the millions of illegal aliens already living in the United States. That is always the starting point for the left. Republicans rightly want the southern border secured before anything else happens. The last time we were told that meaningful immigration reform happened was during the Reagan years. In 1986, amnesty was granted to nearly 3 million illegal aliens. The deal was that in exchange, there would be strict sanctions placed on employers who hired illegal aliens, thereby eliminating the magnet of jobs for those crossing illegally into the country. Democrats didn’t fulfill their part of the deal, though, and that provision was stripped out of the bill before passage.

The interview with NPR’s Asma Khalid was an end-of-year interview. It’s popular now for Democrats to blame Republicans for the Biden border crisis though Democrats have controlled all branches of government for two years. If immigration reform was a top priority, which it certainly is not, it would have been part of their agenda over the course of Biden’s time in office. Democrats were too busy ramming through a behemoth infrastructure bill, and a falsely labeled inflation bill that is a Green New Deal 2.0 bill, along with trillions of dollars for voter bribes, like student loan forgiveness.

Kamala Harris lashes media for failing to cover her strengths as VP in gushing interview - but makes NO mention of worsening border crisis Biden tasked her with fixing

  • Harris said: 'What you've been able to see is based on what gets covered'
  • She said 'there are things I've done' that have not received proper coverage
  • Harris did not mention Biden-appointed role on border security
  • Title 42 lapsing has led to 'once in a generation storm' of migrants

Harris did not speak about her appointed role within the Biden administration to work on the crisis at the border, which has been referred to as a 'once-in-a-generation' storm in the wake of Title 42 having lapsed.

Back when we were complaining about Jimmy Carter, my government Professor declaimed that folks get the results of their votes, good, bad, but rarely indifferent.

Kamala Harris’ ‘deep insecurity’ causes toxic work environment, book claims

One former aide told Whipple that Harris engaged in “really unnecessary gamesmanship” with her underlings, excerpts from the book that were obtained by the Washington Examiner reveal.

The onetime staffer further claimed that Harris “refused to do the kind of preparation that you need to do before going public on a hardcore policy matter. And then she became incensed and outraged when things wouldn’t go the way she thought they were supposed to.”

The Fight of His Life by Chris Whipple is out Jan. 17.

“The amount of stress she created by constantly being impossible to manage and taking out all her stresses on staff — usually women, or people who were not in great positions of authority — was just kind of unbearable,” he said.

The descriptions to Whipple are similar to reports that have been published in other outlets since the former senator from California became VP. In June 2021, Politico quoted a source as saying people who worked for Harris “feel treated like s–t.” That December, the Washington Post quoted staffers who said the veep was a “bully” with a “soul-destroying” management style.

“It’s clear that you’re not working with somebody who is willing to do the prep and the work,” one former worker told the Washington Post at the time. “With Kamala you have to put up with a constant amount of soul-destroying criticism and also her own lack of confidence. So you’re constantly sort of propping up a bully, and it’s not really clear why.”

And now for the Quick & Dirty VodkaPundit Transcript™. Remember, any errors in transcribing are my own. Anything resembling sense is an accident on the part of Kamala Harris.

I’ve convened and I’ve convened now at least three times a group that has their acronym CARICOM. It is the Caribbean nations. Island nations. In the Western Hemisphere. That is where the Caribbean is. We are also in the Western Hemisphere. They are our neighbors.

Seriously, wtf is her deal,” asked Greg Price. Anyone who got called to the front of the class to read aloud a book report they didn’t write knows exactly WTF her deal is.

The more you know…

Kamala Harris' Attempt at Explaining How Electricity Works Goes Downhill Fast

The latest example of the latter happened Thursday as Harris was speaking in Tonopah, Arizona, at a groundbreaking ceremony for a new transmission line.

She was there to promote President Joe Biden’s bloated, expensive clean energy agenda, and things started off rather mildly, according to the Arizona Republic:

“The Ten West Link transmission line will stretch from Arizona to California. It will deliver electricity from wind and solar farms out here in the desert, to big cities like Phoenix and Los Angeles and San Diego, and to rural communities like Blythe and … Quartzsite,” Harris said. “This electricity will be clean electricity. Solar panels and wind turbines do not produce toxic fumes that poison our air or dangerous chemicals that poison our water.
“And the energy delivered by these lines will not just be cleaner, it will also be cheaper. On average, you see, clean electricity is less expensive than electricity generated from traditional sources,” she said.

Except when Harris started to explain how electricity works, her explainer went downhill fast:

Well, let’s think about it. Today, America has more than half a million miles of transmission lines, enough to wrap around the globe 24 times. These lines connect the power plants, where electricity is created, to homes and businesses and schools and hospitals across our nation.
Think about it: Every time you turn on a light or charge your laptop or plug in your air conditioner or put leftovers in the fridge, you rely on the power delivered by our nation’s network of transmission lines.

Florida Appears to Have Rained on WH, Kamala Harris' Pro-Abortion Parade Planned to 'Defy' DeSantis

Harris was in the Florida capital to attend a pro-abortion rights march Sunday, on the 50th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, at which she was scheduled to speak. In fact, Planned Parenthood boasted about Harris’ appearance on its website, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. [emphasis mine]

Planned Parenthood posted to its website that “we’ve kept the details quite [sic] for a while, but we’ll be joined by VP Harris” at the “Bigger Than Roe: National Day of Action” abortion rights march, organized by Women’s March.

“Fifty years after the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a radical right-wing movement hijacked our Courts and eliminated federal protections for abortions. But as the fight turns to the States – they are going to learn that the overwhelming majority of Americans in all States support abortion rights – and women will fight to protect our rights and our lives,” said Rachel Carmona, Executive Director of Women’s March, in a prepared statement.

The march’s time and location are listed as TBD

Oh, no. Is something amiss with the VP’s pro-abortion parade? According to sources of Florida’s Voice, the march was a no-go for the state Capitol and Florida State University (FSU), as it shares on Twitter Saturday:

JUST IN: Vice President Kamala Harris will have to hold her pro-choice rally at a private residence after being rejected by the Florida Capitol and FSU, sources say

It continues:

Harris originally planned to hold a rally in Tallahassee, giving an address “on the fight for women across America to have access to reproductive care”
Sources told Florida’s Voice she landed in the city this evening

Sure enough, when the Tallahassee Democrat published a follow-up story Saturday, gone were details of the march, leaving only what appears to be a private event at a local venue:

Press officials did not elaborate on the vice president’s evening plans, but Harris is scheduled to make an appearance Sunday at The Moon. Her remarks take place on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a landmark abortion case.

💉 Yesterday, I wrote about Kamala Harris’ pro-abortion appearance in Florida, and her difficulties in getting permits and so forth. Now we’ve discovered out that anyone who wanted to come hear her — a microscopically-small group — was required to sign a dense, legalese “attestation of vaccination” if they wanted to attend.

But even the CDC now says people should be treated the same despite their vaccination status. What was Harris trying to accomplish with this goofy attestation, especially since it’s now well-known that the jabs don’t prevent transmission?

The only explanation I can come up with is it’s a filter for people who credulously believe whatever the government says. An irrational requirement to hear an irrational speaker.

Democrats worry Kamala Harris won't cut it as the future of the party (including Sen. Warren)

Kamala Harris isn’t a tough sell, she’s a non-starter. Nothing she’s done in the past two years would make anyone think she’s ready to be president. On the contrary, she’s done lots of things that make the case she’s out of her depth. It’s a oft-repeated gag online that Kamala Harris always sounds like the kid who is giving a book report on a book she didn’t read.

Contrary to what I think is pretty self-evident (she’s not qualified in any sense) the Post story contains some Democratic wishcasting along the lines of if only she were more visible she’d be more popular. I’m pretty sure that’s the opposite of the truth. She’s not out there because every effort she’s made has been a major or minor failure. Her staff and the White House seem to have wisely concluded the best way to help her is to keep her from making any news at all.

And on top of the competence problem, there’s the staff turnover problem. There have been so many departures from her office just since she became VP that it’s hard to remember them all. Here’s a partial list I created last year.

There have been more departures since then. And these folks aren’t leaving because the genuinely want to spend more time with their families. We’ve had several stories in the past two years suggesting Harris’ office is a “toxic” workplace. One December 2021 story from the Post reported:

Staffers who worked for Harris before she was vice president said one consistent problem was that Harris would refuse to wade into briefing materials prepared by staff members, then berate employees when she appeared unprepared.
“It’s clear that you’re not working with somebody who is willing to do the prep and the work,” one former staffer said. “With Kamala you have to put up with a constant amount of soul-destroying criticism and also her own lack of confidence. So you’re constantly sort of propping up a bully and it’s not really clear why.”
