Karate, Tae Kwon Do, etc.

My son has asked me to place him in the Black Belt Academy in Waldorf for his before and after care. Has anyone used this place, that could give me some feed back? Does anyone have any suggestions on weather karate, Tae Kwon Do, etc. are better for an 8 year old.

Is that another branch of the Black Belt Acadamy that started in San Souci? I started learning Taekwondo there. I think it's good for kids, since the focus is not quite so much on achievement and competition, but more on fitness with a little self-defense thrown in for good measure.

But I didn't think it was strict or intense enough for adults or teenagers looking to learn serious martial arts.

I can't compare it with karate or anything else. Taekwondo is all I know.



Although, I wish they taught Ninjitsu around here.

I am really unsure if it is affiliated with the San Souci one. My son is a little on the hyperside (lots of energy) I was hoping this would be a good way for him use it up.

I don't know your son, and I won't presume that I know for sure - But it could be good for him. He will definitely get a good workout, and it might teach him some discipline, which is never a bad thing for any kid to learn.

He is actually a very well mannered little boy, however if I could bottle up his energy I would be a millionair. That's exactly what I was hoping for some discipline and yet something he could be intrested in as well. Would you recommed somewhere else? or do you think this is good for his age?
