These idiots tried to match wits, intelligence, and experience with Judge Roberts, and none of them could counter the answers the man gave them.

They tried to run him through a sorter, a collator, a a fine sieve, in order to label him as insensitive, uncaring, ready to reverse Roe vs. Wade, etc., only to find the man just a little too well read, and experienced, and too true to the letter of the Constitution to fall into their traps.

And yes, they tried their best to trap him into answers he could not/would be able not to explain away.

I saw the mention of Janice Rogers Brown. Now there is a nominee! NAACP, NOW, and the Democrats hate her. Yeah buddy. There is my choice for the Sandra Day O'Connor seat.

This Democratic fear of the public catching on gives George W. Bush a foolproof strategy of his own. He should send up a conservative nominee with the back-channel message that like him/her or not, this is as "moderate" as you're going to get. Knock this one down and the next candidate will be someone you'll like even less. Knock that one down, and you'll get Janice Rogers Brown, who will give you the tutorial on the Constitution that you should have got in law school.
