I need a place to stash Apollo when I'm traveling and he can't go - any recommendations? My neighbor recommended Indian Bridge, and the vet said Trail's End.

My concern is his level of care and I don't give a whip about personalities and who hates who, so please keep that in mind as you're making suggestions.

Home

contact them.... she is home with them all day... has a large fenced in back yard... and only takes on limited dogs so they all get one on one time...and its like a home enviroment!!!!

she treats each dog like her own.

Have you ever thought of taking Apollo with you and boarding him locally where your at? We've done that with Gus and Lilly a couple times. We've used the PetsMart Pet Hotel in Pittsburgh a couple times. Prices were compatible to all the local places here, but we had the piece of mind that if something happened to them they were in the same area. A good example was when the Derecho hit last June we were in Pittsburgh and luckily the dogs were with us safe and sound in the local Petsmart hotel. Also nice because they have someone on site 24 hours.

Appreciate the suggestions, but I'm looking for something in St. Mary's or Calvert.

Indian Bridge. If we have the pups in the car and drive by on our way to somewhere they get ticked that we didn't stop - like they thought they had a play date or something. Every time we've boarded them, and gone to pick them up, when the dogs see us it's all "hi hi" and they head off back towards their room to go play some more. It's not "take me home I hate you for leaving me". That shows me that they love it there.

The true test is what I recommend in all the other treads - do a stop by any place you are considering and get a tour (without making an appointment). You'll get a good vibe or not and will better be ableto make a decision.

I cannot say enough good things about Interlude Kennel in St. Leonard; they are awesome! We have used no other kennel for our animals, since we have lived here (14 years). I recommend them; they are excellent, and truly love the animals.

We used Indian Brisge once and Countryside Pet Paradise many times. I would recommend both, but would lean to Contryside because we had more experience with them.

Get the bath/grooming on the morning of pickup :)

I have used Interlude and had a positive experience. They had some neat accomodations for the pets. One big plus is that there's someone there all 24hrs in a day.

I've also used Chesapeake Pet Resort (Deluxe Dog & Cat Boarding & Grooming | Hollywood, MD | Chesapeake Pet Resort & Day Spa ) because it is much closer to me. I liked it well enough but I wasn't a big fan of their pricing policy. If the days change, a charge is added so if you leave your pet overnight then you are charged for two days, unlike at Interlude where you basically get a 24 hour period before charges roll over. Also, they didn't always have such great availability last summer. Reservations had to be made well in advance during the "busy months".

I don't know if this is an option for you but in case you're interested, we're currently about to try out Wags and Whinnies (Home - Wags and Whinnies). It's a pet sitting service where the sitters come to your house, walk your dog, pick up your mail, water your plants, or whatever you need while you're gone.

Chesapeake Pet Resort - THAT is who the vet recommended, not Trails End. Thank you!

I think what I'll do is run by and make a few visits, then go from there.

I make what I call "Pop in visits", and ask for a tour. I did that with Interlude, and they didn't hesitate taking me on a full tour. The place was clean, the animals were as happy as they could be, being away from their Family, and the water bowls were filled. Not one foul odor could be detected. In case anyone might be wondering, no, I don't have anything to do with Interlude Kennel that would have me making a nice recomendation for them, I just know good when I see it.

trails end is a pet sitter who comes to your house to care for apollo. better to keep him in his home setting instead of stressing him out sticking him in a kennel. I bet they will come as many times a day as you want them to and they will stay the night with him too in your home if you want them to do so too

He hates being alone so I'm sure he'll do better in a kennel rather than just having someone come walk him. It's only going to be for two days while I'm in Annapolis and if it goes well I have a NYC trip planned for June.

Been using Chesapeake Pet Resort for 7+ years and I've never had a problem. The pup still gets excited when I'm packing up his stuff to drop him off there so he must like them a little since he generally hates strangers!

But I'd make a couple of visits to different places anyway... it's good to have a back-up in case your primary is booked up!

He's spending a couple of days at ChesPet in May. I did a tour and they have a pretty slick set up. We'll see how he does. :yay:

They have little cottages, don't they?

No because I don't think he'd like being alone and separated like that. He really is used to having me around all the time. If I had two dogs, I'd definitely hook them up with their own little cottage though.
