In my search for a vice-president, I considered many qualified men and women," Kerry said, announcing his decision at Boston University. "But one man stood apart from the madding crowd as brave, honest, and full of life. One man displayed a true desire to change America for the better—not through political maneuvering, but through hard work. That man was me, 35 years ago.

I know its some sort of dem strategy, but I just don't see how it will help  (maybe not enough time for simple folks to research the VP's sexual indiscretions or criminal record before the election)? I just can't figure this out :banghead: why is he doing this to the democratic party :banghead:

He's probably looking for a Democratic figure that has the charisma he lacks, and won't alienate too many of the fence-sitters and moderates.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any.

Because he has searched and searched and he cannot find one single person who has enough charisma to counter his gooberism.

Easy. It's a very long-standing tradition to name your running mate at the convention. It's only recently become in vogue to pre-empt the convention.

Kerry gains very little by naming one NOW, although, ALSO traditionally, running mates rarely attract additional votes.
