What a cute place! Very much a local restaurant where you figure everyone in the dining room knows everyone else. Much bigger than it looks on the outside.
No waitresses, you order at the counter and they bring your food to you, then you get your own fountain drinks and tea. When you're done eating, you go up to the counter and pay. Don't bother trying to skip out - Kevin is all over that floor and sees everything
Baja, IS and I had hard crabs, jumbos for $32/doz and they were outstanding. Nice and fat, heavy, well seasoned. Don't know where they pulled them out but the meat was very sweet and flavorful. We also had cream of crab soup that was perfect after adding a little salt, lotsa lump crab meat. The hush puppies were good, too, crispy and buttery.
Up on the counter sat several cakes that Kevin had made - a pistachio cake, a peach poundcake, and something else that I don't remember. Didn't have any but they looked good. If I were smarter I'd have gotten a piece of the pistachio to bring home.
It screams to be on the water but, as I told Baja, if it were on the water they'd never get our butts out of the bench and rocker on the front porch. If you don't know where it is you'll never find it. It's tucked away a block north of the west (?) end of the Square in Leonardtown on Park and Lawrence.
I would absolutely go back there.
