Kid's names

How did you come up with the names of your kids? Did you use a baby name book? Family name? Just made it up out of the blue? I got my two son's names off warrants that I processed. I guess that's why both my kids have last names for first names.

I happen to share the same first and last name with 5 other women in Southern Maryland (who seem to go to the same docs, photo labs, pharmacies, and insurance agents I do) so I wanted something a bit different for my daughter.

I used a baby name book full of ethnic names (Scandinavian, Celtic, Indian, etc).
I was looking for something that was cool sounding but not trendy, and easy to spell and pronounce.

Still, people mess it up when they first see her name. Oh well! She has a "normal" middle name she can use professionally if she wants as an adult.

Hubby and I each lost a sibling when we were young, so we decided for a Boy's name -- Hubby's Brother's first name plus my Dad's middle name. For a girl -- a name I always liked for the first name plus my Sister's middle name. Luckily, we had a boy then a girl and stopped. Picking names is really hard because you don't know until they are born, and you see them, whether the name fits or not. I don't think I could have come up with any more names!! :lmao:

I named my daughter after a president. I was going to name her Michael but that was my newphews name. I wanted normal but different-so I went with the last name as first.

I like that idea. A heck of a way to honor a loved one. Good on ya!!!
My oldest daughters name came from a girl I went to elementary school with and my little one came from looking at those personalized coffee mugs at the dutch wonderland in lancaster. the name just clicked so I saved it for when the time came. Funny though she has the cutest way of saying her own name. It fits her perfectly.

Friends of mine named their new baby boy Attila.

Mom is Hungarian- born and raised.

Kid seems to be taking after his dad. Will probably be as big as his dad.

If that is the case, you know what they will call any kid who makes fun of his name?

An ambulance.

Can't help but be creeped out by the whole warrant thing! LOL
Well, got to use whatever is available. It's not like I took the whole names. I didn't have a warrant for John Michaels and named my kid John Michael.

We went to Dutch Wonderland in July. It was cool!! Almost as good as Hershey Park. Actually, it was better suited for my 3 yr old than Hershey.

I've noticed people getting really "creative" with baby names in the last few years. Here's one of my all-time favorites. Once upon a blue moon (over 20 years ago), I worked in the medical records department of a hospital and saw a birth certificate application come through with the name of La Tissue. My first thought was why not call the kid Charmin?
