She's the cop who went to tase a shitbag, pulled her gun by mistake, and shot him dead.

Do we all agree that she was negligent - and how - and will be found guilty? Or is this worth discussing?

Pulled a gun by mistake? I don't even ****ing think so.
If you can't tell the difference between a gun and a taser, you have no business carrying either.


She is either negligent or incomprehensibly stupid. Probably both.

Either way, put her in a cage where she belongs, until such time as she can be officially removed from the gene pool.

But I have a question, since you (sort of) brought it up:

Are a cop's gun and taser in close proximity to each other on their gear belt or whatever it is? Because if she reached for the taser on her left, but ended up grabbing the gun on her right, that will color my opinion as to whether it was an honest mistake or, um, not.

Whether they're close together or not, I've held and fired a gun before.

It has a very distinctive feel.

I've held a taser (but not fired) before.

Also, a very distinctive feel.

Having held both of these devices, I would go on record saying that even in a stressful situation I'd be able to tell the difference just by feel.

I've never even seen a taser in person, so I have no idea what it looks or feels like.

Who wants to volunteer to be tased for my educational pursuits? :jet:

The one I played with looked like a phaser from Star Trek. There was no guard around the trigger button. Honestly, I don't know if there are different kinds - maybe even one that looks and feels like a gun.

If that's the case, that's really poor design, and a poor tactical decision. If they DO resemble each other in look and feel, keeping them close together on your person is profoundly stupid.

I would give her 90 days, and 2 years probation and remove her from the police force.

She screwed up, but so did the guy she shot. What possible good will it do to put her away for a long time?
We just read a story about a rapist who had been arrested over 70 times and he was walking around free.
This is this woman's life, she ruined her career with a mistake, keep her from the police force and let her live with her conscience.
Pretty sure she is a good person,. Prison will do her no good, nor us either.
