kitchen cabinets

After searching the forums and finding the suggested good places to buy cabinets suchs as Cord's, Stuarts, Beautiful Kitchens, Lowe's, etc. I have a follow up question- What are some of the best brands for the money.

We are looking to get a reasonably priced set of kitchen cabinets, looking at a light maple. Any suggestions of what brands to avoid as they will fall apart or they are just plain and simple junk? We are looking more for quality than extravagent.

Shenandoah Cabinets from Lowes are pretty nice, they have a lot of extra features (pull-out drawers, trash cabinets, spice racks, etc) and the prices are pretty reasonable. They have lots of door styles too so I'm sure you would find something you like.

Those are actually the ones we were looking at. I was just worried about the quality, Do you have them in your kitchen?

Cabinet source

If you are installing them yourself I would call "Just Cabinets" Just Cabinets: Solid Wood Furniture & Kitchen Cabinets. I used the Dundalk store (410) 284-5525. I bought maple cabinets made by Kraftmaid, they were 20% lower than anywhere else around here. I faxed over my kitchen layout and had a price in less than 2 hours. Never even had to visit the store. Every cabinet was flawless when it arrived.

Not one single problem during the entire install.

I bought countertops from Solid Rock in Laplata (301-375-8300). Another very nice group of people.

If someone else is doing the install work I would use Cords. They were the next best price and by far the easiest to deal with.

Avoid Shenandoah Cabinets!

I bought Shenandoah Cabinets from Lowes for one job and they were horrible. They were nicely made and well constructed but every one was damaged in some way or another. (scratches, chips, knicks, colors did not match between cabinets, glazing was horrible)

Lowes said someone would be out to look at them..blah, blah, blah. After two weeks I sent the entire order back.

For your sanity do not even consider Lowes!

We do have the shenendoah cabinets in our kitchen. We didn't have any trouble with them being damaged thankfully.

I wouldn't recommend Lowes for installation (it's expensive) but the cabinets and ordering process went fine for us.

Yeah they wanted 2200 for install when everyone else wanted around 1500. We also told them that there would be no cabinets to uninstall and dispose of and they siad that didn't matter, we would have to pay for pulling out old cabinets regardless. It was a set price.

Why would anyone pay them for something they're not doing? People can't be that dumb.
