I have a 1.5 year old cat. I recently moved in the last few months and he loves to go outside. The problem is that every time here recently that he goes out at night he comes back bruised and battered. We have tried like crazy to keep him in but if you don't catch him quick he is out the door in a streak.

How is a whistle helpfull? My cat has gotten out the last two nights and his one eye is swollen shut, He is missing several patches of fur around one eye, has numerous scratched on top of his head before his ears where the fur is thin and many sratch clumps of injuries on his legs. I have him on lock down in my daughter's room right now because if he is out in mass population and he gets near the door he's gonna bolt.

Sounds like you "boy" is fighting a "man".
Get him vetted and keep inside.
Such a simple solution, as everyone else has said.

KEEP KITTY INSIDE.
Be the OWNER and assert your control over your cat whos brain is the size of a small plum.

Good luck!!:howdy:

1. Is he neutered?
2. How old is he?

No not neutered yet. My bad I know but where I used to live there was not a sole anywhere near us. I will have him fixed next month. Also again he is one and a half and the biggest thing I left out is that his front paws are deformed. He has a double thumb claw on the left paw and a middle claw. (although from fighting he broke off the double thumb claw). The other paw has three claws and his back paws are normal. (not that they help in a defense situation) I have told my daughter that until we get him fixed that we have to keep him away from the entrances but she is not very attentive to that.

Do you happen to be as insightfull with dogs because I have a few dog questions as well ? I would post another thread if need be but it is not a procreation kind of question.

Sounds like a poly to me with those toes!!

Tiger: GET HIM FIXED ASAP!! There are many groups that can help with $$$..if not PM me and I will get you one.

It is your responsibility to keep cat in, not your daughter.

He is a fighting, and is subject to abcessess, torn ears, broken teeth..all because of hormones.....

I know others will say the same thing....keep him in and he will be safer!!!

Merry Christmas!!:buddies:

Does my butt look big?
Get him neutered ASAP...number 1

#2 get a nice big water gun and shot him when he sticks his head out the door (shooter is outside) this will work FAST...

Bring on the red

Look we know we know we know :smoochy:Money is not the issue he has all his shots, rabies, distemper, I was just naive with where I used to live and even though where I live now I have only seen one cat. I have gathered there are many more. I know as the grown up it is my responsibility however, when I am at work or just coming home from the store etc. I think a 17.5 year old could keep an eye out for kitty when mommy is lugging groceries up 41 stairs.

BTW I was serious about doggie ?'s. Can you help? I can post in dog land if need be.

FYI: An intact male cat will travel up to 8, EIGHT miles to have sex with a female in heat.
That is what they do..fight and mate..fight and mate.

Dont care where you live, a good pet parent fixes their pets.
And a neutered male is the BEST cat!! I have 3 "boys" and they are wonderful....all they do is eat, sleep, poop and play...no reason to fight...ever!!!!

And a fighting tom is a walking vet bill!!!$$$$$
Right folks?

TL, I have a neutered male cat who has lived indoor/outdoor for 5 years and just last month started coming home looking the same as your cat. There are no new cats in the area AFAIK; I suspect he's been fighting with a raccoon. Either way I've been keeping him inside and I have the same trouble you do, he likes to jet out the door when you're not looking! Make sure your kitty's rabies is up to date.

I thought myself that it might be a racoon from the types of rake like marks scratches on his head. No way to know that for sure til after I'veethe multiple year vaccine. Also we had a racoon in our shed about a month ago that met with a mysterious and untimely passing:whistle: I just don't see cats around here most of the time. I have spotted two cats one time in the past three months so who knows.

If Doug was still there, this would not be happening.
