It is a culture, and one that is dragging morals down. Do you really want to be a part of that? Even your avatar shows your hip hoppie style. It's not mature, and it is not responsible. Period.

I received this as karma. I am a part of hip-Hop. It doesn't mean I tote guns and sell drugs. What is wrong with me wearing what I want to wear and listening to what I want to listen to. It doesn't reflect my character at all. I love when I go into a store with Jordans, a baseball cap and jeans and get a look like why are you coming in here. It really shows the ignorance in our society. They work in a department store but look down on me. Its not like I came in dirty clothes or anything. I don't understand. What does the clothing I wear have to do with my maturity. Its not like I go into the office that way. How could me being into Hip-Hop not be responsible. Alot of people that post in this forum must not have been around young black males who have something good going for them. It saddens me that just because I like Hip-Hop, I'm Immature and Irresponsible.

I wear Prada. Does that make me a devil?

Jordan's, a baseball cap and jeans are hip hop? You must be t3h white debbil.

Why don't you believe that it is? A fitted Atlanta Baseball cap, Retro Jordan's, Nice jeans and a Sean John Tee. That is all Hip-Hop

Michael Richards will appear tonight on Letterman

With pal Jerry Seinfeld already Letterman's scheduled guest on Monday's "The Late Show," Michael Richards appeared via satellite to apologize for the shocking incident at the Laugh Factory on Friday night.

Just a question. (first off nice post). Now...if I see you ahnging out with a group of blacks and I approach you. (remember I am white) and you say n---, but your friends do not, can I still say it? or do I have to walk on eggshells until everyone of your friends and anybody within hearing distance says it?

Serious question....
No in my personal opinion you can say whatever you want because you are responsible for yourself. Just like everyone else in the crowd the person saying anything has to deal with the consequences whether they use a curse word, the N word or anything else controversial.

To my karma giver, every one is responsible for themselves. I never said that I can say the word to my black friends and you can't because you're white. I am about to go re-read my post as I was on my way out of the office when I finished. And this is my last response to this thread.

The word nig - ger is racist because it is used for negatively describing mainly/only black people originally and now. Some people of other races are becoming more comfortable with openly using it to describe black people and I don't think we should be expected to get over it just because we use it on ourselves.

I don't like any spelling of the word be it nig - ger, *****, ni99a, n****(*). It all means the same to me though urban culture tries to justify "*****" as something different it still has no concrete definition.

I get offended when people call me anything that means less than what I am but my reaction reflects how deeply I absorb what the word used means and who is saying it. My girlfriend can call me a ho' in play but let someone not close to me say it and I am taking off my earrings because I would feel like it was used to purposely hurt me.

I really don't care who uses the word because you can't control others but no one should try to justify why someone else should accept it. Unless you hear me say the word it should be assumed that I am not ok with it just because some of "my people" use it on each other. And, yes I have used the word but not directing it to a particular person.

There was a white comedian on Comic View who was describing sex with his black wife. He said that he knew he was in when SHE said "Damn, *****" to him when they were having sex. I am sure someone took offense to that, I didn't. I didn't see him as trying to be black and I didn't see him as trying to slip one in.

I guess the best way for me to describe it is, the word is like a knife, when used correctly no one gets hurt. For some people the word is just a word and is used in the same contents as the word "and" for others it's only used when there is THIS kind of conversation going on. To each his/her own jin anything you do you should be prepared to deal with the consequences and as long as you live in this world you should be prepared to deal with things you don't agree with.
At my age I've seen it all. Blacks in the back, buses, restaurants, bars, if allowed at all. I saw South Africa with an invisible line through the town keeping them and us separated. I grew up with people of color being blacks, colored, nigs and now African Americans. I still use the N word and when I do it's attributed to the low life of the world, sometimes referring to whites. It, to me, is a negative word and that's how I use it. I would never use it around black or white friends unless I knew them very, very well. It is a word and I don't see it going away as much as I'd like it to. I cannot grasp why people like Chris Rock can use it and it be funny -which it is- but why white comedians don't refer to the honkeys to get a laugh. Maybe some day we'll all live in an ideal world?

Exactly...........to me, it's all a crock.

I've been called many a name, but in the end, you are who you are, labels mean nothing.

I ate soap as a kid, once.
Parents brought me up to respect others no matter what color, creed, etc. They never used that word and I never taught it to my children. BUT I ATE SOAP for saying "sh!t." :lmao: Mom did not allow cussing in any form.

Yes, but in the context of the conversation, it was appropriate.

Why is it okay to spell it, but not say it, in the context of the conversation? Should I start spelling when when I say "so and so called so and so a ######"?
