Wow.....that's ignorant, even for this place..... :ohwell:

Since when did the term 'ignorant' become interchangable with "bigotted"

I know a lot of ignorant people who aren't bigots. And one or two bigots that aren't ignorant.

I think it is totally unfair to the ignoramouses and bigots of the world to be lumped together in such a fashion.

That is all.

In My Opinion

N####r, dictionary definition.
1
usually offensive; see usage paragraph below : a black person
2 usually offensive; see usage paragraph below : a member of any dark-skinned race
3 : a member of a socially disadvantaged class of persons <it's time="" for="" somebody="" to="" lead="" all="" of="" america="" s="">######s...all the people who feel left out of the political process -- Ron Dellums>

Redneck, Dictionary definition
</it's>
 1. Used as a disparaging term for a member of the white rural laboring class, especially in the southern United States.
 2. A white person regarded as having a provincial, conservative, often bigoted attitude.
Kinda both the same, yet we white people are supposed to accept the term redneck without any problem, but if the word ###### is used, it is considered a racist comment and needs to be dealt with accordingly.

when it is just as offensive for an ignorant black to refer to whites as rednecks, then I will accept that it is equally offensive for an ignorant white to refer to blacks as ######s.

just dont think I can put it in any simpler terms.

edited to show how the one word is censored, yet redneck is considered as ok to use when refering to a white person.

Redneck is not deep like the N word. Redneck has no history.

Well tell me then, why is it okay for blacks to call each other ######? When it was the Africans who sold blacks into slavery to begin with? I mean, historically, the negative connotation began and propogated the social disadvantage of African-Americans by their own ancestors... You would think it (meaning the "N" word) would be the LEAST welcome in use by blacks with and towards each other...

It may not seem like it but the majority of blacks despise that word. It's just that saying it is louder (in statement) than not saying it. Plus it's a maturity thing too. Depends on where you are in life. Just like anything else. With the exception of hip hop (which isn't an excuse) the word is not somethng that I hear in everyday conversation at all if ever.

Also, what one person does should not decide what a whole class of people practice if it is wrong and they all know right from wrong. None of us know why any of that was able to progress to the extent it was. It's not for us to figure out all of the answers to either.

But, if I was to introduce you and the rest of the forums to my neighbor and I tell everyone he is a buffoon does that mean you will all begin calling him that? I don't think so. If anything I would probably be called that by you all for calling my neighbor that.

I think the reason that would go that route is because we've changed and no one thinks that way anymore. Yes, it is sad that the word has been resurrected into ***** and yes it's sad that all black people won't accept that it's the same word. But, until they do there is nothing that can be done about it and the last thing needed is for anyone else to begin using the word or justifying why they should be able to or why it is right for anyone else to but not everyone.

The word is bad and for me there are no exceptions just misconceptions.

Oh and as far as other racists terms I don't agree with anything that hurts a group of people. I don't know the history of the R word but just like the N word there are some people of the race it "classifies" that will find pride in it.

People will always be proud of things that others won't understand. Bullies are proud of themselves, some women are proud to be called a b!tch and some men are proud to be called a playa.

Each one of us has a voice and instead of fighting ineffectively we can band together effectively and teach future generations how to respect one another. Starting at the homefront. Each one - Reach one - Teach one.

Yeah, me too. I can't figure out how the same person gave out bad karma twice in a row, unless they went through all the trouble of logging out and coming back an MPD and doing it all again.

That happened to me too. Until I continued reading this thread, I assumed at first that the problem was me, that I had foot-in-mouth syndrome.

Just saw two of the guys richards rant was aimed at on the today show. They had a laywer with them. I couldn't figure out why until she started talking. They want to sue for monetary damages, but apparently even the lawyer knows they have no case so she has suggested they sit down with a retired judge as an arbitator to figure out how much kramer owes these guys.

WTF?

I mean since when did getting called a name mean you get to sue? what were the damages these guys suffered?

dont get me wrong, I dont think what he said was right, but but there was nothing there that should warrent a civil action.
