On Monday, Harris's campaign unveiled a proposal to eliminate the gender pay gap. Billed "as the most aggressive equal pay proposal in history," Harris's plan would require companies to apply for "equal pay certification" through the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). To receive certification, companies with more than 100 employees would be required to disclose compensation data showing no existing wage disparities between men and women for "work of equal value."

"To the extent pay disparities do exist for similar jobs, companies will be required to show the gap is based on merit, performance, or seniority–not gender," Harris's proposal reads. By forcing companies to disclose their pay and employment data, Harris's plan would change current EEOC guidelines which require employees to come forward and report wage disparities.

"We've let corporations hide their wage gaps, but forced women to stand up in court just to get the pay they've earned," the California Democrat's campaign told the Associated Press. "It's time to flip the script and finally hold corporations accountable for pay inequality in America."

Democrats haven't changed a bit.
They see the economy we have under Trump which was achieved in part because Trump started doing away with crazed Obama regulations.
So what do they run on as a platform?? More crazed regulations.

Wow, will this blow up in her face. This is already true, and has been demonstrated in study after study after study after study.

The "wage gap" is based on position, not sex.

Is she out to prove that (again), or just really stupid, or assumes her voting base is just that stupid?

Nope .... Progressives REFUSE to account for 'experience' or time in position as a reason for a difference in pay

... but but but this woman is doing the 'same' job as this man ..... PAY should be 'equal' dollar for dollar

The problem with a lot of these people making laws is that they have been government employees for so long and, for the most part, salaries are set by certain schedules (e.g., GS, WG). They only know how the government sets pay and think that's how every business should operate as well. If two equally qualified people get hired for a job (doing the exact same thing) and one does a better job of negotiating their compensation package thereby producing a pay gap, is that the fault of the business?

The studies all seem to point out that the alleged gap has nothing to do with better negotiation, but rahter other tangible things not counted by simplified studies things like experience time in the job, other non-degree qualifications, that sort of thing.

John Doe and Jane Doe both have the same degree from the same college and are the same age and are hired as account executives. According to the simplified sorts of calculations that liberals like to use, that means they should get paid the same. But John maybe spent all 10 years since graduating in the field, acumulating real world experience, while Jane took 3 years off with her first kid and is coming back with a lack of recent experience. could be that John has sought out additional training beyond his degree, taken a mentor whose shown him things that Jane doesnt know. could be with his extra experience his rolodex is 30% larger than hers.

I think there have been three or more in-depth studies, some by, or mandated by, the DOL and they all say the same thing. The alleged gap disappears once you get into the details of hiring and salaries. It's all aboveboard. But it sells like hotcakes to CNN.

I have also read women suck at negotiation ... ie are willing to settle for less, where as a man is a bit more aggressive asking for more money

OOPS: Kamala Harris Has A Plan To Close The Gender Wage Gap But She Pays Men More On Her Campaign

Harris's plan would require companies to obtain a written document from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, officially certifying that they pay men and women equally. If they cannot, they will be fined 1% of earnings for every 1% difference in pay between the genders.

“Kamala Harris has a simple message for corporations: Pay women fairly or pay the price,” the campaign said in a statement. “We’ve let corporations hide their wage gaps, but forced women to stand up in court just to get the pay they’ve earned. It’s time to flip the script and finally hold corporations accountable for pay inequality in America."

The Washington Free Beacon reports that Harris, under her own plan, would be on the hook for at least a 6% fine. Women working for Harris in both her Senate office and on her campaign, earn an average of $.94 for every dollar Harris's male employees earn.

You've never met my wife. She's much better at it than I am. I think she actually enjoys it.
