LabCorp

Has anyone had any good pediatric experiences with a labcorp in the St. Mary's County or Charles County area?

My son needs blood taken and I want to go to one where they are good with toddlers, it's a harrowing enough experience!!!

Thanks in advance.

You might want to try the one thats in with the Express Care in Charlotte Hall, not as busy as the ones in Waldorf, nicer atmosphere.

I've always gone to the LabCorp off 925 in Waldorf. They are located in the Cambridge Building. I have very small veins and they always seem to collapse. Sometimes it hurts and sometimes it doesn't.

Thats where I always went, till someone tipped me off about the one in the Express Care.

Whereabouts is it in the Express Care Building? I searched via zip code on the labcorp site and it didn't show up. Thanks again.

Thanks, yes I have been to the express care facility but was wondering where the actual lab was. Labcorp does not have it listed on their website. Thanks though.

I think it's a part of the St. Mary's Hospital Medical Center that's actually located in the same building as the Express Care. Here's what St. Mary's Hospital has listed on their website for this laboratory:

St. Mary's Hospital Medical Center
at Charlotte Hall
37767 Market Drive (Near Golden Beach Road)
Charlotte Hall

301-290-0184 (lab)
Specimen collection (M-F): 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Closed 12:30 - 1 p.m. for lunch
Technical services (M-F): 9 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Additional hours by appointment

From that info, it looks like you can go in anytime between 8 and 4 p.m. during the week. Hope that helps! :howdy:

There is also one in Old Line Center right of of 5. If you are heading south from Waldorf, its on the right before you hit St. Charles Parkway. Big building in the back. I've heard its A LOT less crowded than the one in Pembrooke.

I will never go to the one at Old Line Center again! They messed up specimens and my son got the wrong results! He had to get an abdominal sono before it was confirmed they were not his results. They did redo the labs free of charge which were then normal! Watch your specimen and make sure it gets marked! The Laplata labcorp on centennial st is not crowded and they seem very friendly and professional. There is also a labcorp in the Belmont bldg on Moakley St in leonardtown and one in Pembrooke square in waldorf. I would like to know one that does fingersticks for baby lead screens instead of drawing blood.

My daughters doc does it in his office.

Well this was some time ago but after the most disasterous time at Old Line Center we decided to take him to the lab at Childrens Hospital. I've never encountered such rude people as the two at Old Line Center who tried to butcher him to take his blood, then accuse us of not holding him down enough! They were so bad. At Childrens, it was calm and peaceful, took less then 2mins and he never even flinched. They are awesome, any time he needs blood taken I'm doing the extra drive and going up there.

Our doc does it in his office too with certain insurances. Lead has to be done at labcorp. Anyone had this done and get a fingerstick only? Thanks.

Just wanted to comment that the LabCorp I use in Prince Frederick is wonderful. They've been syphoning blood from my husband and myself since they first came here. They are good at what they do and are cheerful and respectful. They also take their time to be accurate. So if the waiting room is full you can expect a long wait, but I've noticed everybody leaves with a smile on there face including kids. I just wish we had one closer to Lusby.:yay:

That's the one we use. We've never had a problem and the staff is very friendly.

I was terrified to get my 4 year old's blood drawn. She had a terrible experience with a dentist in PF and ever since that has been scared to death of doctors. Her pediatrician gave us a prescription for a numbing cream for her arm, to put on 20 minutes before getting her blood drawn and it worked wonders. She didn't feel anything and we were in and out within 15 minutes. I think all kids should get this stuff before getting stuck with any needles! Especially infants.
