Still new to the area... was wondering if there's any can't miss labor day events happening in this area.

I live alone and haven't made a lot of friends yet, so I need something to do.

Well.....

There is the jousting tournament in Port Republic, Solomons Island Festival and NorthBeach Bayfest, just to name a few things.

Jousting?

Jousting? as in two guys riding on a horse with long spears pointed at one another until they collide?

~shaking my head~ someone told me that southern maryland was a little behind in the times, but... this is a little much... the Middle Ages were like 400 years ago. *L*

Bayfest

I went to the Bayfest last weekend. Is is this weekend too?

We're going to the Marine Musuem in Solomons tomorrow to see Travis Tritt!!! Hope the weather cooperates.

Hey Rose! You have any info about the Solomons Island Festival?

The Enterprise says....

"There is something for everyone, including fine art, antiques, crafts, collectibles, flea market, kids fair, wine festival and waterman's seafood festival from 10am-5pm. Saturday and Sunday at Glascock Field across from Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons."

This is also where I got the Bayfest information, so perhaps that is incorrect. It's happened before.

Have a great time at the concert!

Yes, the information is listed here in the thread.

Then there's always the Renissance (sp?) Festival up in Crownsville.

I'm doing as little as possible this weekend... because on Labor Day my classes start... oh boy!

Always thirsty
On a side note, if some people can't make it on weekends, why not set up a happy hour day to meet, like Wednesday or Thursday, for those who work around the base or lower Calvert? You could do it every week or every other week and then post it so new folks could join in, too. I love happy hour.

Good Idea!

I do too, but my Thursday Happy Hours are coming to end for awhile. I start class from 7 - 9 next Thursday. I'm game for a Wednesday.
