left alone to carry voice traffic. The DSL modem basically
segregates and encodes the signal on the line and feeds this
to a central office for data traffic.
So, it would appear that while your landline is out - the DSL
signals are making it to the central office.
I also found a few entries that said that they are now allowed
to get DSL without having to pay for a landline (VoIP).
