Hi everyone....I have a question to any of you landscapers out there, we are currently in the process of putting in an inground pool and we want some ideas for shrubry to put around the pool for some privacy. Any suggestions welcome!!!

Try to avoid shrubs which have sharp ends on the leaves (certain hollies)!

Boxwoods and other evergeens can make a nice hedge if that's what you're looking for.

Might be best to stick to some type of evergreen, any shrubs with leaves or blooms, crepe mrtyle for example if too close to the pool will drop leaves and blooms onto the walkway's around the pool and will end getting blown into the water. Especially this time of year, if we have a dry summer this year for example, the tree leaves start falling prematurely.

If you want privacy fairly quickly, you could consider forsythia. It's a bushy plant, can be trimmed as needed or let grow free. Birds like to nest in it. Produces lovely yellow flowers in very early spring, then dark green leaves all summer long.

But not what you want if you're looking for shade tree type of things.

In My Opinion
dont know how much space you have to use for a plants foot print but Leyland Cypress is a perfect privacy fence, grows fast is evergreen can grow up to three feet of new growth per year in a good area.

downside.
will out grow the yard if not kept trimmed, unless the yard is big.
they have a not so deep root structure and can blow over in high winds.
they only live for about 25 years.

other good plants to look at.
