Because, in reality, if they tried to put all those features into a single device it would weigh 600lbs.:killingme

At least that is what the people that own the rights to the different techologies will tell you.

My guess, Smart Phones will get powerful enough, you just have blank tablets and shell laptop to drop your smart phone into it and just interface with your smart phone using the I.O. and Form Factor of the other devices.

That may be all the Bento Box of Gadgets is, but it look like it was more a combination of all of those different devices snapped together.

If I have a smart phone and a netbook/laptop option, what's the use of the tablet exactly? A computer is necessary, a cell phone is necessary, so the tablet is the short man on the pole. Same with the MP3 player. I guess it could be used as an e-reader if the smart phone is too small and you don't want a laptop around. So it's nice for travel.

Seen people doing activities and active jobs with a ClipBoard? Imagine them doing the same thing with a box, holding it up to look at the backside of the open lid?

Yea, for you and I, I can't imagine spending the money for a Tablet PC, and likely most people buying them are for the novelty of it. BUT, I can imagine, although limited, there are jobs and uses where a Tablet PC would be prefered to the laptop and smart phone.
