This posting is certainly not about somd, but I was wondering if anyone can recommend some good hotels in Las Vegas. I am planning on going there in a few months, and just wanted some recommendations, and what they liked about certain hotels. Thanks!

Check out the Las vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (877-847-4858 or Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority for Las Vegas Vacations - VisitLasVegas.com) to get some good info on hotels, activities, and the sort. Also go to Vegas.com (Las Vegas Hotels - Las Vegas Shows - Las Vegas Entertainment | VEGAS.com) which has the run-down on all things Sin City.

I've stayed at Treasure Island and at the Mirage, both nice places. But next time I'll stay at the Bellagio or the Venetian, both much nicer places in terms of amenities, location, and architecture. They are both gorgeous!

We stayed at the New York, New York....It was nice, but wasn't as fancy as the MGM or Bellagio. Next time we go we are going to stay at the Wynn.

We go to vegas several times a year and I love the MGM. We have stayed at excalibur a few times, its low budget and a lot of younger people stay there (But in all fariness, they has supposedly upgraded some of the rooms, so the rooms may be a little better now), it was clean, just low budget. We stayed at Luxor once and I wont stay there ever again, everyone that worked there came across rude. In all fairness to Luxor, we stayed there right after the basket national or championship thingy and the cab driver said it was a horrible experience with the basketball crowd, people not paying, walking out, thugs, gangs, etc., so he said they could have still been bitter because of that, I dont know, but I will never try there again. We stayed at new york new york, that is also a nice place, but only stayed there once. We stayed at monto carlo, that was also nice, but didnt want to stay there anymore either. We have also stayed at mandalay bay which is super nice and I would like to stay there again, but it is all the way at the end of the strip, which makes it a little out of the way. I have always favored MGM becuase the layout of the casino is the only one that I know like the back of my hand. All the casinos are huge and so easy to get lost in. We were there for new years and went through plant hollywood and that hotel looked pretty nice too, but we havent stayed there, so i cant offer any opinion. All in all my favorite is MGM.

Stayed at the Bellagio when I went in 2006. Love, love, loved it! If you go during the week prices are less expensive and much more affordable. :yay:

I really liked the LUXOR but if I went again I might stay off the strip at the Hard Rock.

Didn't Nicholas Cage take out the Hard Rock hotel and casino with the out-of-control airplane that he helped to hijacked?

The Mirage or Treasure Island. They have the best restaurants and hospitality! If you want to see a great show, I recommend the Cirque du Soleil Mystere or The Beatles - Love.

The Wynn is also great! OMG, just very beautiful to look at. They had a really good restaurant there, but I can't remember the name of it.

I have stayed at the Luxor, New York, New York, and Aladdin which is now the Planet Hollywood. Did not like Luxor mainly for the casino. The dealer there were crap! New York was pretty good. I like the Aladdin the best. Rooms were nice and they have a pretty large casino floor. Plus if you like to shop they have a nice mall inside as well but not as nice as the mall at Caesar's Palace.

My hubby and I stayed at soo many different places.

The best is the Venitien, can get costly to stay there. But the rooms are spacious and the hotel itself is gorgeous!!!
We stayed at the Luxor on our first trip 10 years ago. It was cool nothing to brag about. If you don't mind stay a little off strip you can do the RIO. The have good prices for a nice suite.. Then MGM has a new complex to their hotel. It is called the MGM signature. The rooms are nice and the price is affordable.. We are going in April and that is where we are staying. We have a Garage door convention to go to at the MGM Grand.
If you are the type that wants to go cheap, then there is the Stratosphere. It is at the end of the strip. You get what you pay for. The hotel it self is not bad it is the clientele that stay there and the same with Circus Circus.

Good luck!!

All I can say is, if it happens in Vegas, you need to let us all know about it.

There are a lot of nice and not so nice places to stay. I guess the amount you spend depends on how much you plan to be in your room.
Definately check out the Blue Man Group- their show is incredible! A lot of the hotels will set you up with tickets.
Vegas is a fun place to go but don't get your hopes up too high about coming back and being able to buy a mansion and a Ferrari! Hubby was able to come home once with enough for a substantial down payment on a truck. Not all of us are that lucky :nomoney:

So true!

Hubby, I , Mother-in-law, Father-in-law, Brother-in-law, and his wife all went to Vegas on year. The broke ones (US) came back broke!! We spent about 1,000 on gambling. My brother in law who has money! What happens, he and his wife have a horseshoe shoved up their Butts!!! They both hit the jackpot 10 mins from each other in the Luxor!! They spend a total of $100 before they hit the jackpot!! Seems that the ones who don't need the money are the ones winning the money!!!

Have stayed at the Mirage, MGM and the Venetian.
Would return to:
1. Venetian- room was sooo nice - all suite hotel
2. MGM- pool has lazy river - was great
3. Mirage
All were nice - my next visit I would like to stay at Mandalay Bay or maybe try the new towers that MGM built and go back to that pool!!
We visited most of the hotels to see the casino/decor and I think pretty much any major casino hotel would be ok. Especially if you've never been, you'll be wow'd just to be in Vegas.
