I am finally breaking down and getting my eyes fixed. Contacts hurt and I cant see that well out of my glasses anymore.

Please tell me it is well worth it.

my mom went here:

Annapolis LASIK Center | LasikPlus Vision Correction

it was quick, dr was great. He does, like, millions of these. There is a tv where your family member can watch, my dad did and said it was really neat. By my mom's checkup ( I went with her) she was 20/20. It was so cool. She said there was a little discomfort the first day (like something was in her eyes) and then it was just getting used to it (she had one corrected for close vision, one for far)

I forge tthe exact price, but mom was able to use her flex spending account for it.

Lasik Plus did mine in 2001. 12 minutes adter my head hit the pillow, I sat up and read the clock on the wall. $3,000.00 including lifetime enhancements (if needed). I highly recommend it.

My hubby had it done at the one in Alexandria. It's been almost a year now and he says thus far 100% worth every penny.

money well spent. Dr. Dodd did mine about 12 years ago.
Same here. One thing he will tell you going in, if you wear reading glasses now, you'll wear them when I'm done. He was right, but I no longer need glasses to drive or anything else long distance.

Navy did mine in Bethesda.

I had went back and forth about getting it done for years. A fire on the ship during my last sea duty decided it for me when I couldnt get a good seal on my SCBA mask (not my normal size mask I was using) due to my gas masks glasses not fitting correctly... so i was leaking air out the side of the mask and couldnt stay in the space(s) as long as the rest of the team.

Had choice of PRK or LASIK and went with PRK due to ever so slight chance of flap detaching and better track record (for them).

Healing was longer and 2nd day was kind of painful but totally worth it in the end. All kinds of wickets and paperwork and consultation visit... If the Navy wasnt going to do it I was gonna pay for it to be done anyways.

Everything used to be blurry past 10 inches from my face. Now I'm 20/25 in left eye and 20/20 in right, although I cant see as well up close. Will probably need reading glasses sooner. Better than bifocals though.

Other guys/girls in my current command have had it done with great success as well (both PRK and LASIK)

Isn't there a local doc at St. Mary's Hospital now who does Lasik? Thought I remembered reading this in the Enterprise a while back. Anyone know anything about him?

My wife had hers done at The Wilmer Eye Institute at Hopkins, and almost cried when it was over because she was so happy with the results. My BIL had his done in Annapolis, went in with atrocious vision (coke bottle glasses) and came out 20/10 20/15. He's a marksmanship instructor and sniper now, so I guess it worked ok for him too. (Not so good for the bad guys)
