Launching A Boat

This was the guy's first boat and he was taking it to the lake, but he wasn't quite sure of the correct procedure for launching a boat off a ramp.
However, he figured it couldn't be that difficult to do, so he stopped by his Union office for advice, and they just told him...

"Just don't let the trailer get too deep in the water when you're launching your boat, and you should be fine".

Well later on, he couldn't understand what they meant by that, as he just could barely get his trailer in the water!

Here's a picture worth a "thousand' words! Your gonna love this guy!!!
They walk among us, get married, have children and vote!

NOTE: The sticker on the rear window explains everything!!!

When I lived in NY, this was a regular thing to watch at the ramps. I'd grab a sammich and a drink and camp out by the ramps on a weekend. I've seen more cars in the water, engine fires and just general mayhem than I can remember.

When I lived in SOMD and I'd be launching or retrieving my boat the number of complete morons attempting the same was just mind boggling. "Here's your sign"

I try to be patient but after I've waited more than long enough, I go over and launch/load their damn boat for them. I've even backed the trailer down the ramp because they cannot drive. UFB that anyone born before '72 doesn't need training in boating. :banghead:

My friend had a huge fishing boat and everytime he went fishing I had to go with him just to back the boat down into the water. Some folks just have a hard time backing up with a trailer attached. He could do it if he had to, but if I was with him it was easier and faster.

It's actually easier to go backwards with a long trailer than with a short trailer. Short trailer is so much more sensitive to movements by the tow vehicle's steering wheel and gets crooked quicker.

I like the ones that back up to the ramp and then take 15 minutes to load it from the vehicle while everyone else is waiting. Or they just pulled it out and sit right there unloading it. Or get the boat in the water to find out the motor doesn't work and just sit there trying to figure out what's wrong. Friend and I launch easily within 5 minutes and get out just as fast.
