I agree... Laura has restored a measure of propriety, dignity (*though tarnished recently) to the First Lady role. She does NOT have the GRIT to force deals...call senators on the carpet,...and eye down foreign tyrants like Margaret Thatcher.
Hillary has those qualities but casts the same shadow as Lady Macbeth...no thank you.

Laura and the "First Lady" may be different

Throughout the presidency of George Bush, Laura has been the pure definition of a First Lady. She has supported him in public, been thouroughly dignified and lady-like. However, in some interviews when asked the right question, you can see the fire in her eyes. She is smart enough and dignified enough not to give an off the cuff answer that might get her husband in hot water. As first lady it is not necessarily her responsibility to be tough on those issues. She has also said in interviews that she and George disagree and have discussions even arguments about policy or events . . . IN PRIVATE.

I think that she has the moxy, education and support to be a far better president than Hitlery.

Good point. I'm sure the Cheney's know a little more about her than the public does.

I'd like to see Laura get some seasoning before running for President, such as serving as governor of Texas.
