Our church had it's annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day this past Sunday. We had a great turn out with about 15-20 uniformed officers and their families, and featured various patrol vehicles, including several cruisers, a K-9 unit, a police motorcycle, a mobile crime lab, and a Emergency Services Unit. Kids and adults had a blast learning from these fine officers. We were also blessed by the presence of St Mary's County Sheriff Cameron and his wife. Our guest speaker was Pastor Lee Bowman, a former Prince Georges County police officer, who gave a stirring message of hope and salvation.
I have gain a greater appreciation for the men and women who risk their lives daily in the service of our people and our county. It has made me want to slow down a little bit more so they won't have to waste their time on any of my traffic violations. I hope everyone here will realize the sacrifice these folks put themselves through. God bless our police force!
