I haven't seen a public square around these parts, evah. How about we just adopt the Mexican cartel's modus operandi instead? Find bridges that the most cars during pass under during the day, stuff their mouths with their junk and hang their bodies over the railings? Seems to somewhat deter certain behaviors and definitely sends a message.

Maybe it's like weed and California has just decided they won't enforce the laws / decriminalized it?
It's not Newsom specifically, it's his finance dept.
There was a time when I'd go, nah, that can't be right, there must be more to the story. Then it turned out that was the whole story, there was nothing more, and it was exactly as bad as it sounded. There is nothing I put past Democrats these days because just when you think they can't get any more scummy and depraved.....they do.
And I'd still like to know why buying children for sex isn't already a felony.

I don't know if THIS is the whole story - but I just read about a bill they tried to pass in ORDER to make sex with minors a felony (it didn't mention paying for sex with minors, or simply having sex with minors).
There were a couple things wrong with it. Age of consent in California is 18 with no "close in age" distinctions OR distinction for another minor. Meaning it's totally possible for two consenting teenagers to commit a crime if they engage in sex - both of them. Since there's no "close in age" distinction, similar charges can be made against an 18 year old having consensual sex with a 17 year old. It's way stupid, but unless them start making sensible laws, they run against a roadblock for making GOOD laws.
So I was able to learn THAT much - because the laws are stupid, they want it to remain a misdemeanor, because if made a felony, a 19 year old having sex with his girlfriend could be ruined for life.
This always seems to be the case when a Democrat - or Republican - goes out on the stump excoriating the opposition for voting down a bill - and it has a poison pill in it that ensures people would and probably SHOULD vote against it.
