La. dog finds success in Big Air competitions
METAIRIE, La. (AP) — During a duck hunt last season Chris Piacun noticed something special about his 2-year old black Labrador, Beau.
"When he would make a retrieve after a duck, I would say 'Wow, this dog can really jump,'" Piacun said.
Piacun didn't know how much of an understatement that was.
He found out, however, when he entered Beau in a Big Air competition held during the Louisiana Sportsman's Show earlier this year. In an event that measures the leaping ability of man's best friend, Beau jumped 24 feet 5 inches — two inches shy of the Big Air indoor world record.
Beau, a 2-year old black lab, jumps more than 20 feet into Lake Pontchartrain in Metairie, La., as he trains for a Big Air competition.
