Hello Everyone:
1. If you live in Calvert County, this is a pivotal time in our history. Our 5 county commissioners are going to be updating our animal control laws this month! I have submitted my recommendations for anti chaining/penning laws. My recommendations include no chaining outside from midnight to 6 a.m. or during bad weather and better conditions for dogs that live on chains. They need to hear from the public NOW! Please call or write to each of them:
Linday Kelley 410-535-1600 ext. 2207 or kelleyll@co.cal.md.us
Wilson Parran 410-535-1600 ext. 2203 or parranwh@co.cal.md.us
Susan Shaw 410-535-1600 ext. 2205 shaws@co.cal.md.us
Barbara Stinnett 410-535-1600 ext. 2204 or stinneba@co.cal.md.us
Jerry Clark 410-535-1600 ext. 2206 or clarkgw@co.cal.md.us
Please send this to as many Calvert County residents as you can. Now is the time for change. Tell them to "Enact anti chaining and penning ordinances NOW!" No more dogs living in pens their entire lives; No more dogs living on the end of a chain for years without food or water or human contact!
2. The Maryland State law is coming along. Senator Norman Stone of Baltimore will be sponsoring the bill on the Senate side. Susan McComas of Harford County will sponsor on the House side. So, it will be cross filed. We do not have a bill number yet. I will be asking you to call/write on behalf of a state law soon. This would be a statewide anti-tethering ordinance and everyone on this list will need to get involved in that. Start creating your own database of email addresses of people you know that will work on behalf of this bill!
