deadly force is authorized for self defense and the defense of others in which utilizing the escallation of force.
In this case it was already at the lethal level due to the individual brandishing a firearm.

self defense of others is a justifiable deadly force action in this case due to in all actuality, the dog "is" an actual police officer
Since the K9 was unable to defend it'self, the armed officer would be authorized to neutralize the threat

I'm wondering why you would bring a dog to a gun fight :confused: Shoot first, and shoot to kill. Why endanger the dog.

Am I a bad person? When I read that the guy was fatally shot I had no reaction but when I read the poor doggy died it made me sad.

I too think it is justified, I was just throwing up the comparsion because after a cop shoots a dog they always emphatic that a dog is just property.

I agree if the cop was in fear for his life he was right to shoot, if he was pissed that the dude shot his dog, not right to shoot. I couldn't careless personally as I am sure the dude was scum.
