Below is information regarding Leonardtown High School Cheerleading for the Fall 2012 season. If you are interested or need more information please contact Elizabeth Collins is eacollins0@gmail.com.
Summer Camp
Camp is MANDATORY for every athlete that makes the Fall 2012 squads. Cheer teams will attend the overnight Pine Forest Cheerleading Camp from August 16th till 19th. The cost for camp is $300/athlete.
*** There will be various opportunities during the summer to fundraise to pay for camp. (Fundraising does not guarantee a spot on any team.) ***
Tryouts
Tryouts will be August 11th - 14th. Every day of tryouts are mandatory. Athletes will condition, learn material, and stunt. Material will consist of tumbling, jumps, chant, cheer, and dance. Please see attached tryout tips/extra information at the bottom of this page.
There are three teams that make up LHS Cheer; Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Freshman. The Varsity team has 24 open spots, JV has 20, and the Freshman team has 16.
Please note that trying out to be part of a high school athletic team is a large commitment. If selected all practices, games, fundraisers, camps/workshops and competitions are mandatory unless there is an emergency.
Forms
All required forms are due the first day of tryouts.
All athletes are required to have current Physical and Parent Permission forms to participate in athletics at Leonardtown High School. A physical is current for one year from the date it was administered by the doctor.
No student will be permitted to participate in any activities if they do not have the proper paperwork fully completed and with all required signatures. Please note that the physical form has a place for the doctor's stamp. Please make sure the doctor stamps the form.
All current LHS students must have a 2.0 GPA to participate in athletics. All in coming Freshmen will be required to have a 2.0 at the end of the first marking period of their Freshman year.
