Lester Earns Spot in Sunday's Cup Race

"This is quite a feat at my age, but I hope I'm still on the rise," added Lester, the first black man to qualify for a Cup race since Willy T. Ribbs ran three events in 1986, the last in June of that year at Michigan International Speedway.

I'll be curious to see how he handles a car; he's currently 30th and two laps down in the truck race, but cars and trucks is like apples and oranges, so who knows. :shrug:

Exactly; I'm surprised it took him this long to get a shot in Cup ... especially with all the diversity going on.

I'm glad to see he raced his way in, and I'm not talking about with his ethnicity.

I just heard on the radio that the ceiling has lifted, dryers are on the track, and they'll probably be underway in an hour. :shrug:
