Let's have a discussion about where conservatives can move to escape Democrat tyranny

A number of forumites have PMed me their intention of putting MD in their rearview and have asked where would be some good places to land. I've been around enough to have opinions but obviously what is right for me isn't going to be right for everyone.

NM is one of my favorite states, but sad to say they are in love with oppression. That's why they keep electing Prison-Matron-In-Chief Michelle Grisham.

I also love AZ, but unfortunately they too enjoy being kept as pets by an iron fisted Democrat Governor.

So where to start narrowing down choices....

Sort by party. The ones with a Republican Governor are good places to start, and take the rest off the list.

Now choose your region, whether you want to be somewhere warm or you don't mind cold winters. Need to be closer to relatives, etc.

Check out the states' Senators and House members. More Republicans is better because if it's a bunch of Democrats you might as well stay in MD.

By now you should have one or two states on your short list and can start narrowing down by city/district based whatever criteria is important to you. Considering the election fraud in 2020, eliminating states based on whether they were Trump or Biden isn't a good measure. Instead look how they vote in their local elections. Georgia, for example, is a great place to live as long as you're nowhere near Atlanta. Which brings us to the next step:

Out of the states remaining on your list, eliminate the big cities and anywhere that has a Democrat Mayor. If the last election was even close, eliminate that city because it's only a matter of time, plus the Republican Mayor will have to kiss ass with the cultbots to stay in office.

So let's say Tennessee is a strong contender. You can immediately rule out Nashville and certainly Memphis. Now it's simply a matter of deciding how big of a city you need to live in and doing some research. Then go visit the cities/towns/rural areas in person to get a real feel for them. Join their groups on FB and ask questions. Avoid any Reddit group because those folks are more likely to be fringe psychos and not a true representation. And after narrowing down you'll come up with the right choice for you.

I may or may not stay in PCB for life because although I love it here the Gulf weather is occasionally terrifying, plus I'm not from here and don't have roots, and also there are too many other cool places in this country to be. I'm happy here but I might be happier in Bastrop TX or New Braunfels TX. I could also maybe be happier in Branson MO but they participate in winter, so that's a consideration. I'd like it if AZ would get its act together because there are several cities/towns there that I could easily live in.

YMMV

This is something I’ve been thinking about for a couple of years. NW Georgia is a place I would like to explore some along with eastern third of Tennessee.

Coastal Carolina is where I bought land. Population is stable, gently aging. No commuting traffic, quaint towns, appropriate freedom to carry, and votes Red in every election...Taxes are NOT oppressive. Yes, they still have softball leagues and Friday night football too.
Local store owners have gone over & above on several instances.
I have some cottages to retreat too on long weekends: 6 hour drive from So Md.
Yes,...there are several Marylanders there and they stock Old Bay in the Piggly Wiggley.
***Note: I am NOT referring to the Outer banks....rather the communities of the Albemarle, Pamlico & Neuse rivers.***
