True, but traffic slows after the light instead of before the light and reduces blocking the intersection. Zipper merge is safer for all, including those who line up before the intersection then run the yellow/red when the light changesPeople use that argument all the time but what typically happens is traffic is bumper to bumper and some ass zips to the front in the ending lane and forces his way in. Used to see it all the time on 235N after the light at 4.
