John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and[b] is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

John the Apostle told us about John the Baptist and John the Baptist told us about Jesus.

There are two major actors in the New Testament named John. There is John the Apostle and John the Baptist.

John the Apostle was the best friend of Jesus of Nazareth. He is the reason we have the fourth Gospel, three letters, and the Book of Revelation.

John the Baptist was just a little older than Jesus of Nazareth. His mother Elizabeth was Mary's cousin. His father was a priest. According to Luke, the doctor and the guy who gave us the Gospel according to Luke, John jumped in his mom's womb when Mary came around. So John the Baptist made some kind of announcement every time Jesus came around.

John the Apostle told us about John the Baptist and John the Baptist told us about Jesus.

John the Apostle says that Jesus is Human..... John the Apostle also says Jesus is God.

When everything started ..... back in Genesis days.... back in Garden of Eden creation days.... Jesus was God. He worked beside His Father while the earth was being created. When God created time..... Jesus was there. When God was sculpting Adam.... counting the hairs to be planted in Adam's head..... Jesus was there too.... counting the hairs as well. When Eve was sculpted, Jesus was there with His Father.... and no doubt His Father.... who created time.... knew that Eve was going to mess things up. They hoped they were indeed fallible.... and wrong about Eve.... but unfortunately they were not. So... from the day Eve went up the wrong path to a place she was told not to go..... Jesus knew He was going to have to become totally human so He could understand temptation as a human.

When God told Adam and Eve He was going to send someone to straighten all this out..... He was talking about Jesus of Nazareth.

I'm pretty sure there was a conversation about the different ways humans would eventually get on the wrong path and how that path would cause different horrors for God and the humans. I'm pretty sure God the Father and Jesus the Son decided that when the time was right.... Jesus would go become a human and straighten it out. They had a plan. God gave His Word to Adam and Eve.... Jesus just waited until the time was right.

So... if God knew that humans were going to go rotten.... why didn't He send Jesus right away?

God wanted humans to be companions for Him. God wanted humans to be capable of having a conversation with God. So He gave humans the ability to make up their own minds about things. He told Adam to name the animals instead of teaching Adam the names. Humans wouldn't be any fun if they wouldn't stray a little. Humans were smart.... too smart for their own britches.

So.... John, the close personal friend of Jesus of Nazareth says that Jesus isn't just a result of two good people deciding to have a baby. John says Jesus isn't just the result of two people mating like animals. John says Jesus wasn't the result of a male human taking a female human by force. Jesus was born because God said He was going to send someone to clean up the mess Adam and Eve created. God gave His Word.... and that means.... God gave His Son.

God was sending Jesus to clean up the mess Eve made when she listened to the wrong character. Eve made a mistake.

So.... let's study what John wrote..... and see if tying the Gospel, the letters and Revelation..... we can get a better idea of what Jesus really wants us to do with our lives.
