On Saturday evening there will be a benefit walk held at the Governmental Center in Leonardtown. Registration begins at 6:00. The walk is sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Participants who raise/donate $25 will receive a red illuminated balloon to carry on the 2 mile casual evening walk. Cancer survivors will carry white illuminated balloons.

This is a great event if you have never been. The evening sunset is the perfect backdrop to all of the blinking balloons. Especially the white ones. There is still time to participate!! You can register at the walk site.

St. Mary's County has been stricken with numerous cases of leukemia, lymphoma and other blood borne cancers in the last few years. This is a great way for the community to get invovled to support the families of those who have lost loved ones and the individuals who are currently fighting these cancers.

For more information log onto www.lightthenight.org or call 1-800-242-4572. You won't want to miss this one!!!

Thanks for the Heads-up. Am new in town, and lost a great M-in-L to Lymphoma. My daughter did the 1/2 marathon, and I tried to train for it, but I can't do the distance. But I can probably do 2 miles. Thanks again!
