You might try and call someone first:

SCOTLAND - Over the weekend, Point Lookout State Park sustained significant damage from Tropical Depression Ernesto. While the Park has reopened for day-use and camping, several areas of the park remain closed. The Maryland Park Service (MPS), Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP), and the State Highway Administration (SHA) are helping with clean-up and protection of the Park facilities.

Beginning Wednesday, September 6, Day-Use areas will partially re-open at 8 a.m. The following sections of the Park will remain closed until further notice.

* The Point Area, south of the Beach Picnic area, will remain closed for an extended period of time due to roadway damage and erosion on the Bay shoreline.

* The Fishing Pier will remain closed for an extended period of time due to damage to the deck, handrails, and lighting.

* The Civil War Museum and Marshland Nature Center will close for the season due to water damage.

* The Camp Store is closed due to water damage. The re-opening date has not been determined at this time.

That's my Ernesto damage.. we left the next day for OBX, didn't have any time to pick up the two trees we lost so they sat there for a week. I used the bucket to tear out the stump of the pine tree by the road, and just cut up the Bradford Pear before we left, now I have to get back out there and start my bonfire pile.

And the same for the grass, got back today at 5:30 and went out and cut some of it this evening. Damn I LOVE the new tractor.. two weeks worth of grass (didn't get to cut it last week-end cause of E) and the tractor still cut through it at full speed. Did have to remove the turn signals finally.. after BG knocked one off, I replaced it, then I knocked both of them off and replaced them again.. this time I just took them off.

You'll missed a great ride yesterday..

We chased the rain around the state and around the bay.. we rode to 9 lighthouses and got postcards for 12. We left the house at 7:45 AM and pulled into the final lighthouse at 5:50 PM(ten minutes to spare). Almost everywhere we went they wanted pictures of the bikes next to the lighthouse so we got to ride the bikes to lighthouses that were off limits to vehicles.

We didn't get wet all day until the ride back. We waited in St Michaels for about 45 minutes for a storm to pass before heading home, hit a little drizzle just before the Bay Bridge, then after Annapolis it was sporadic rain showers the rest of the way home. My glasses would get dried out just in time to hit another pocket of rain. Neither Caitlin nor I wore rain gear yesterday, and when we got home the ony thing wet on me were my jeans below my knees.

Caitlin was my pilion and she set her personal best on the bike of 500 miles in one day, and not once did the group have to wait on her, she was always ready to go, and asked her twice at Ft Washington, and Baltimore if she wanted to go home we could.. she wanted to finish.

SO to recap, 9 lighthouse stops, 350 miles in 10 hours.

Drum Point, Solomons..

Baltimore.. don't remember the name.. and don't know what happened to the other 3 bikes with us..

This is either Turkey Point or Concord.. not sure, but we got to ride down to it where everyone else had to hike a mile to get to it.. a little trail riding, mud grass, gravel and sizeable rocks..

We were the first bike group ever (so they say) to finish the challenge in one day and by the time we were half way through apparently we were the talk of the challenge. Other bikes on the route were getting stopped and asked if they were "the group" and everywhere we went they were expecting us, and ready with cameras!!

What a great day!!

Oh, and we (daughter and I) got home at 10:45! Great day spent with my daughter, though she's walking a little funny today!

AND many thanks to BG, she cooked dinner and breakfast for the riders, made coffee, and of course took care of Nicholas and the house all by herself so I could do this ride with my daughter!!

I wish I could have made it. :frown:

Maybe next time.
You would have had a good time.. and other then the tolls, gas, and one or two lighthouses it was free...

I'll never be without an intercom on my bike.. that was GREAT being able to talk to each other at speed.

I looked at one of the tally sheets at one of the lighthouses, they were averaging 100 "challengers" an hour so there were quite a few out there visiting the lighthouses, just not many doing it all in one day.

Time well spent...

Time spent tooling around on two wheels with a child riding pillion tends to make lifetime memories for both parties involved. What a trooper. 500 miles on a sport bike in the rain with a group of biker types. I liked her since the day she taught me how to crab!!! I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time! I think she deserves an aluminum butt award presented by the group. Now I just need to get back east to take my niece for a ride on a 1500 mile a day bike!!!

Great pics by the way!!

I went four miles on my new bike this weekend. I'm pretty exhausted.

Don't want to spoil her...give her a cushy seat to sit on she'll never sit on the back of mine. She already metioned that I should look for a new seat.

I wonder how comfortable the back seat is on the 1200 Adventure?

I've heard the Russell replacements are great.

Can't remember if it was a Russell or a Sargent that I was looking at at the Rally, but it was selling for >$800 (front and back). I think I prefer the Corbin, but how are you really going to tell until you do a 500 mile or more day sitting on it?

I got the Corbin for mine, no complaints or numb butt. Almost 3" wider than the stock seat. Got a 15% discount ordering from http://www.amotostuff.com
