Listen to the wrong advisors...

...and you get smoked. Just ask our inept, incompetent and unfit President.

He dismisses the opinions of those he hired to advise him (that would be his cabinet spitbubble). He doesn't heed the advice of the politicians who tell him that he will lose and put the Rs in an untenable situation if he forces a shutdown.

So what happens: Trump, the master negotiator, listens to the likes of Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh.

And he gets smoked. Comrade GURPS was all excited yesterday that Trump's poll numbers were back to the low 40s. He and some other dumbass came to the conclusion that the poll numbers showed Trump was right to do the shutdown. No. Trump's poll numbers fell when he took the advice of people who have nothing to lose by egging him on. Trump's poll numbers fell when he acted stupidly. (So far all this is panning out pretty much like you were told it would back in December.)

So here we are again: Trump failing to listen to everyone around him and instead following the advice of propagandists. Trump has declared his National Emergency when none exists (factual evidence spitbubble...it is as clear as the echo that occurs when someone whispers in your ear).

How is this likely to play out? Lawsuits will fly in from everywhere. The emergency declaration will likely be stayed and tied up in the courts for some time. Trump may or may not ultimately win in the courts---quite frankly I hope he loses as he has set a dangerous precedent with this stunt. (of course the ignorati are cheering....hypocrites that they are).

The House will likely pass a resolution to stop the national emergency as allowed under the National Emergency Act. It will pass....how many Rs will be on board? For Rs who are actually concerned about this Presidential overreach have to vote to stop this.

The really interesting component of this to watch will be the Senate and McConnell. The reporting is that McConnell got on board with the National Emergency bullsh!t as the only way to get Trump the buffoon to sign off on the budget deal and keep the govt open.

But here's the rub...the 2020 election is dangerous for Rs and for McConnell. More Rs up for re-election than Ds. The next election is close. The last election showed how pissed off most of the country is. Rs who want to hold their seats will have to determine how much longer they can support a President with approval ratings in the low 40s. The shutdown and the subsequent votes on the budget deal should tell you that they have about had it with Trump's incompetence.

Will McConnell allow the House bill to come to a vote on the floor? Will it pass? If it does and Trump's vetoes it, how many Rs will overturn the veto?

Trump may have just moved past inept, incompetent and unfit. He is now looking "irrelevant" squarely in the eye. Then Bill Weld won't be the last R to challenge for the 2020 nomination.
