Little-Known Maryland Law Requires People With Sleep Apnea to Report Diagnosis to Driving Authorities

Steve Lehto talked about this. I found the link on Reddit, because the rest of the internet isn't talking about it. They will talk about what sleep apnea is, and how to treat it, as well as try and sell you CPAP machines, but as far as links? Not so much.

The concerning thing here is that the Maryland dentist had someone rat him out; not that he self-reported.

I saw an article a couple days ago about people who were getting letters from the DMV instructing them to provide a doctor's note that they are safe to drive because they have OSA. The problem was that they didn't notify anyone themselves, their providers did.

When I had my CDL, I lied every two years about having sleep apnea. I never thought I was a danger to anyone on the road. It's not like narcolepsy where you just fall asleep.
As a side note, I am getting over a cold that really settled in my chest. I coughed a lot during the night and did not use the cpap machine for almost two weeks. The past two nights I have used it, I have slept soundly for 8 hours and have woken up feeling great!

If it's severe it's exactly like that. I used to nod off at traffic lights before I got corrective surgery for my OSA.
