Local Artists

....
Does anyone have any idea where or how I'd look for contact info on some of the local artists? I'm interested in hiring one to do some comissioned work but not sure how I'd go about doing so?

(either a watercolor or charcoal artist preferred)

If you're looking for an inexpensive way to go, try calling the Art Department at St. Mary's College and asking if they have a student with talent and time who would be interested in hiring themselves out.

that fabric store next to Asahis might have some flyers up

you could also try calling the base MWR....they might have some contact info..i'm pretty sure there is some sort of art club on base...

like Badgirl said try calling some of the colleges or some highschools...HS art teachers are always in for some extra cash...

cant think of anything else in the area...

North End Gallery in Leonardtown is all local artists, but I don't know if any of them work on commission. If not, try BadGirl's suggestion about the SMC Art Department. I know of at least one local military contractor that hired a student to do its lobby mural.

What specifically are you wanting done? Portrait? Landscape? Still scene? How large?

A painting of a house. Not that large. 8X10/8x17; something like that.

Happy Camper!
Take a picture of the house and borrow one of those fancy smancy photo shop packages and turn it into a painting and call it a nomo original:yay:
